iPad 3 shipping already

Mine is shipping via UPS and is now in Louisville. Here is the shipping history:

I just ordered mine early yesterday afternoon........ was on a cruise when the announcement was made and didn't get back until yesterday morning (bummer!! 😉). First notification said it would ship on the 13th. Then I got one that said it would ship on the 19th and arrive on the 21st. This morning I got the "Your item has shipped" email with a FedEx tracking number but when I try to track it, that number shows no info. No problem, I have seen that happen before, especially on a weekend. I would think a lot of the shipping time has to do with the type of iPad you order..........mine was black, 64GB, WiFi+ 4G LTE for Verizon.........probably falls into the "not as many ordered group", I'm guessing.

I'm just happy I have gotten to that stage of the game 🙂 with it, since the camera connector kit I also ordered at the same time is still in the "Preparing for Shipment" status...LOL

EDIT: just checked again (like 2 minutes later) and it now shows "picked up in Nashville" and the expected delivery is by 3:00 on the 16th!! I notice it says "Future delivery requested", so I'm guessing Apple has put a "hold" on it for delivery on the 16th........it says "standard overnight" and that's not exactly overnight...LOL

I still have no shipping order and it just has "processing Items". Ordered on the 7th at 7:30 PM Since there the above poster has a arrival in Louisville KY. I hope it is because I'm located in Louisville where the UPS hub is. Hopefully mine is sitting right down the road about 2 miles from me.

Mine is. I live in az. It says overnight priority

I think they do overnight to make sure it gets there on the 16 but will not deliver until the 16

FedEx tracking says it was picked up in Nashville on 3/9/12 with ESTIMATED delivery on 3/16/12 by 3 PM! Apple store employee stated that it could be here the night before. It is being sent to Atlanta. I hope so!

THANK YOU. I got the order confirmation @ 4:55p ET and still no ship notification. It's not necessarily that I think anything is wrong with the order (the MasterCard hold is certainly still there 😎) but dang, really?? What's up with ppl who ordered later getting a ship notice before those from the 7th?

"could" is the key word, and only if someone at FedEx makes a mistake. Apple arranges for them to be held up and deliverd on a specific day. Every year the Fan sites report 1 or 2 people who get a new device a day early, but that's quite unusual.

How the heII did you order it just yesterday and get a tracking number while people like myself who ordered it on 3/7 haven't gotten one? This infuriates me no end!

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for everyone who got their tracking numbers! It just makes no sense to me that mine hasn't been sent to me. And Apple has no explaination except, "don't worry! It'll be there..." argh!

This is what my notification says... I highly doubt anyone gets it earlier than the 16th. I DO, however, understand the frustration of those who ordered immediately after the keynote on Wednesday. I'd be pissssssssssssed off!

I have no idea other than it depends on which particular iPad is ordered. Mine was the black 64GB WiFi + 4G LTE for Verizon. Since there are so many options, that has to come into play, I would think........color, storage size, model, and carrier. Oh, and then there's the personalized engraving thing........I didn't choose to do that.

Not sure if this helps or just adds fuel to the speculation, but this sort of thing happened with the iPhone 4s. I got a notice that it was being "held" for delivery when they would appear in the stores, and I ended up getting mine the day before.

Like others here, I've got an email from Apple saying it's currently in Nashville (I'm in Florida) being held for delivery on the 16th. Based on the iPhone I wouldn't be surprised to see it show up on Thursday, but I won't hold my breath, either (when it comes, it comes).

Those of us who did get delivery confirmation of the 16th should be very happy, as now online orders are being pushed back by as much as three weeks (and it will only get worse). And trying to stand in line for the (few?) available in stores on Friday? Forget about it.

(My only sadness is that I shippped my iPad 2 back on Friday for sale to eBay and now I'm iPadless for the next four days. I think missing an iPad is MUCH worse than if you had never had one before. I'm having major withdrawal symptoms from my favorite buddy, and my Macbook Air and iPhone are poor substitutes).

I have no idea other than it depends on which particular iPad is ordered. Mine was the black 64GB WiFi + 4G LTE for Verizon. Since there are so many options, that has to come into play, I would think........color, storage size, model, and carrier. Oh, and then there's the personalized engraving thing........I didn't choose to do that.

Well, I don't know about eoin3 but I ordered the 64GB WiFi+LTE for AT&T with NO engraving.

So I got a shipping notice and a tracking number from Apple on Saturday morning. I have been checking the Fedex link several times a day since yesterday but I still have not been able to find anything on the Fedex site. I am assuming something will show movement after midnight as typically Fedex and UPS have Saturday and Sunday off.
