iPad 3 shipping already

Call FedEx if you want to know more about shipping. Maybe it will be held up in customs. Maybe it will travel the world a couple of times. Only FedEx knows.

I did.

I ordered mine on the 7th, and got an email last night (the 9th) just after midnight that it had shipped. Tracking shows this to be true. Left Chek Lap, Hong Kong 8pm their time. It says it will deliver on the 16th by end of day ... no range, just the 16th.

I would very much believe they are already shipping. But from my past experience, fed x will hold them until the "approved" delivery date of the 16 th.

I don't think they want them in users hands until the magic date.

If it were possible to receive prior to that, fedex tracking would have given me a range, not a date specific of the 16th. We'll see.

Sometimes large shipments like this, which the shipper wants to be delivered on a specific day and no earlier, are held in the warehouse on the recipient's end to go out the morning of delivery - this is what happened with the last Harry Potter book, I believe.

Funny, or dumb story from the pad 1. They shipped it early, and I got an e mail from fed x the week before the "release date". The e mail said they had it, could not deliver it per shippers instructions, and they would return it to the shipper on the next day unless I picked it up. I went into panic mode, drove around all day on a Saturday until I found their holding point to 'pick it up'. When I got there, they laughed at me and sent me home. The e mail was a mistake. Yes they had it, and I could not pick it up until the date. The day came, and the guy showed up in the morning.

Now that's good information to have, since others might receive the same erroneous email. Thanks for the heads-up!

As imore.com reported, some clearly were shipped from China ahead of time. I just got a notice that my shipment's origin is in Pennsylvania - 135 miles from me. I could ride my bike up there and pick it up. :-(

Mine's in Nashville, 450 miles away. It says Standard Overnight, but is scheduled for next Friday the 16th for delivery, so I imagine it will get here and sit at the local facility until next Friday. Maybe they'll goof and deliver it early! Maybe not.

I got an email from apple store on March 9th, it says shipped with tracking # and when I click, it take me to Fed-Ex website and it says there is no information. May be I have to check back.

Are you guys getting the 4G plus wifi or just the wifi? I am trying to decide.

I am getting WiFi, 16Gb. Since my work place and home both have WiFi. For 4G need to buy an extra package from ATT or Verizon. To check email, I prefer phone. Ipad would be too big to use.

My is coming from California. I live in arizona and it says overnight prioroty..
