after ios 5.1 update apps won't download

Tried all of the above suggestions with no joy. Still have the "waiting" indication for my apps and when I look at the the app store it still says installing. I tried restoring from backup, no luck. Synching it with iTunes in my desktop doesn't work either.

What am i missing?

Same for me -- I've tried everything except wiping my phone and starting over. Meanwhile now I have more than 30 apps that need updating, and I can't download any new apps.

For the past 3 days now my ipad2 has been updating and receiving apps!!! yay! I did nothing special so I'm guessing Apple has fixed the issue although I still see others are having problems.

I have an iPad 3 and it has never had this issue... worked/works fine right out of the box... only my 4s... nothing i have tried works .. still the "waiting" indication

Ok, here's the problem. At some point you attempted to download an app or some apps and your phone thinks that the apps got installed. You need to locate those apps that are still in the "Grey" and delete them and then re install them. Problem SOLVED.

Yep, if you have any apps, or podcasts pending the updates will not work.

Since you're the originator of this discussion, could you mark the "iExplorer" solution as correct? (should be around page 9) This will help a lot of people who are coming here and not seeing that there is a fix for it! (and hopefully stop the unending cycle of "me too" comments.)

The iExplorer solution didn't work for me. I didn't have anything else pending.

I had to completely wipe and restore my phone.

I had this problem on my iPad 1. Signing in/out of the app store seemed to fix it for me.

Are folks still having issues with this? I did nothing to my iPhone and the apps started downloading just fine a few days ago. Seems it was something on Apple's end and they got it fixed. Not sure anyone needs to do anything drastic at this point other than trying to download and install any updates. But thanks to all for all the suggestions.

i still get the error "unable to download application" afer the ifile downloads delete and other methods. no solutions working for me...

any new ones to try out there?

Same issue. Updated to IOS 5.1 phone & apps kept crashing. Now I can't update any apps or download any new ones. I've tried all the recommendations in this post... Can anyone HELP!
