after ios 5.1 update apps won't download

I had trouble downloading the ios 5.1 update, but found a thread on here that pointed me to an open dns address, so i typed that in the dns field and it worked. I have the updated ios 5.1. I went back and deleted the dns address, connected to my local wi-fi and the internet and all functions seem to work fine, but when i try to download an app, whether it's one i used to have or a new one, it won't download. It begins to, then the icon flashes waiting/loading, waiting/loading, then a screen pops up that says "unable to download application. "imovie" could not be downloaded at this time. done, retry"

It's not just imovie, I've tried others as well.

i turned off and turned on. I can't sync now because i'm away from my laptop. i have verizon iphone 4s.

I went into a Sprint store today Dave, and they know about it, but apparantly it's kind of being sealed up. Neither Apple or Sprint wants to "take the blame" because there are some odd things happening. Mostly Android handsets can download everything just fine, so Sprint says, "its not the Network" while Apple says "Sprint's network is the only one with issues, so its Sprint's fault." None of the techs at the store had functioning iPhones either. I'm kinda upset, I was really looking foward to iOS, but at this rate I'll be migrating my entire ecosystem back to Android. I need a reliable phone.

Hi,

I've been struggling to find a solution to this for days but just finally stumbled across a fix which worked for me.

If you are using your home wifi as your connection, go into the network settings and change the DNS to 8.8.8.8

I wrote my original settings down first in case this didn't work so I could put them back, but it worked first time.

Give it a go!

After reading a lot and about to give up, I found a new way to solve the problem. It is related to the option of going to the download folder on ifile or using the iexplorer. Instead of erasing all its content, erase the download folder completely, after that, go to Safari and download anything (pic, doc, etc), with Safari Download Manager, and the saving route should be: Downloads -/Media. Save whatever you downloaded to that directory and the ipad will create a new one, with the downloads.28.sqlitedb file that in my experience got somehow corrupted and was causing all the problem. With the new directory created, make a reset, and then try to download anything from the appstore, it should start downloading without problems. Hope this is understandable and helps everyone. Peace
