after ios 5.1 update apps won't download

I had trouble downloading the ios 5.1 update, but found a thread on here that pointed me to an open dns address, so i typed that in the dns field and it worked. I have the updated ios 5.1. I went back and deleted the dns address, connected to my local wi-fi and the internet and all functions seem to work fine, but when i try to download an app, whether it's one i used to have or a new one, it won't download. It begins to, then the icon flashes waiting/loading, waiting/loading, then a screen pops up that says "unable to download application. "imovie" could not be downloaded at this time. done, retry"

It's not just imovie, I've tried others as well.

i turned off and turned on. I can't sync now because i'm away from my laptop. i have verizon iphone 4s.

My iPhone 4S is not Jailbroken and I have the iOS 5.1, I did what I told before (see my reply), go and try with iFunBox in your PC + iTunes, delete the content of the folder Downloads and reboot. If you suspect that you have an item suspecious (trying to update), delete it also on your iPhone.

It was the only way that I found without making a factory reset.

Hope it helps

I just got off phone with Apple. They first tried to claim the server is busy. After I push back he had me try and newwork reset. That did nothing. He now claims I need to do a total factory reset. Since clearly this is a bug I will wait and see if Apple wants to own up to the problem and fix it. A factory reset is faily major surgery and I am not convinced it will do anything. I might note that every time I removed the files in the download folder per the recommendation above the first download goes as normal then it gets stuck again.

Having the same ****** problem on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 ... constant "waiting" when try to update apps throught actual device yet app updates download as usual through iTunes and then syncing the devices. It's obviously something on Apple's end, either in the store or in iTunes. Have also had funky stuff going on with playing radio stations through iTunes, as well.

And it all started with the 5.1 iOS update and the iTunes update.

FIX IT, APPLE!!!

Same problem. Apps just say waiting when I try to buy or update but when i sync w my mac it works. All started last week when i did the ios update.

I even went so far as to do a factory reset and still nothing. I work in nyc so will try to go to one of the apple stores tomorrow and see if i can get some help. i called apple and they told me without a $29.99 "phone support plan" they can't help. Got to say this is the first time i have ever been unhappy w apple.

If I get it sorted out at the store I will post what they did.

I phoned the number from the website support and no charge here in the UK! I was taken through the process step by step and they were very helpful. She checked all my settings first, then went in general settings and reset, turned off router, disconnected wifi on iphone, turned on router and then connected with iphone. I'd check that you got through to the correct support and try again, there shouldn't be any charge but it did take 10 minutes until they picked up my call .... for some reason they seem to be pretty busy!!!!

Figure it worth a summary of what everyone has tried

1 reboot

2 cycle iTunes/apps login

3 wait for ever

4 cycle everything

5 return to factory settings

6 use iexploer to delete download folder data

7 turn off cellular data download

8 reboot home network

Did I miss anything

I have tried everything except restore to factory settings. But

Some else reported it didn't work

after ios 5.1 update apps won't download
