after ios 5.1 update apps won't download

I had trouble downloading the ios 5.1 update, but found a thread on here that pointed me to an open dns address, so i typed that in the dns field and it worked. I have the updated ios 5.1. I went back and deleted the dns address, connected to my local wi-fi and the internet and all functions seem to work fine, but when i try to download an app, whether it's one i used to have or a new one, it won't download. It begins to, then the icon flashes waiting/loading, waiting/loading, then a screen pops up that says "unable to download application. "imovie" could not be downloaded at this time. done, retry"

It's not just imovie, I've tried others as well.

i turned off and turned on. I can't sync now because i'm away from my laptop. i have verizon iphone 4s.

I can't WAIT until my contract is up with Verizon. I won't be using any Apple product ever again.

These skidmarks keep telling me its my fault and that I did something wrong. I am tired of asking for help on an issue I didn't create only to be told that I didn't pay for support and would be required to do so now. I have had nothing but problems with my iTunes account and iCloud and no one seems to be able to help me.

Arrogant ******!

Same problem. Updated iphone 4 to 5.1. Trying to update apps. "Waiting..." . Nothing happens for hours, apparently frozen, then I look at it hours later it has suddenly updated. Thought it may have been router, but all checked out there. Tried deleting apps but then they won't install. Tried disabling wireless and defaulting to 3G but still no change.

Same problem on my original iPad.

I can't download anything new or purchased. It all just hangs on waiting. I sometimes get an error message saying to sync with iTunes.

I tried several of the fixes posted here with no luck. I can sync purchased aps using iTunes but it's a pain. Also I think it possible I may wish to purchase a new ap one day..,,

This is outa hand with apple. The previous 5.0 update made safari crash constantly. 5.1 fixed that issue for me but now I have this problem.

Fix it or dont fix it apple. I'm beyond fed up. No way would I buy apple again. Anyone who thinks apple will respond. Dream on. We are in the dark unil god knows when the next update comes.

Here's been my whole experience so far. I've tried restarting the phone, turning it off and on, logging out and in, and resetting my network settings. So far none of that has worked. Now this is a new issue that just came up on Thursday night on March 15. It seems to be tied to the new iPad coming out or atleast I thought. The apps that were stuck I let them go over night and in the morning they were downloaded. The same thing happened with another app the next day that took 12 hours to download.

I've talked to friends of mine that have iPhones with 5.1 and the new iPad on 5.1 and everything is working just fine. My iPhone 4 is what's giving me the problems but my iPad 2 is working just fine under 5.1.

I'm not wanting to do a factory reset and Apple had me do it once on my old iPhone and it did nothing to fix the issues. I have important App data that I don't want to lose out on and I really wish it wasn't an all or nothing kinda thing but it looks as though iCloud will help with that in the future when more Apps use it to store data on.

I would do a restore and load the backup on my iphone to see if that would fix it. Before that though I would do the reset all settings and possibly save the iExplorer trick for last. After reading through everyone's expierence with those they don't seem to work 100%.

Who knows maybe 5.1.1 is right around the corner! Till then the only ways I can update is to wait it out or update through iTunes.

I too have had this problem with iPhone 4s and ios 5.1. Two apps I've tried to update just constantly waiting … and it's really annoying as one of them I use all the time …or at least used to. Given the number of comments on here about it I too find it incredible that apple aren't acknowledging this. Like Scott I'm not trying to update anything else until I know it's fixed. Come on apple …you give me this terrific phone which I love and then you render it partly unusable? Huh? What's that all about?

Same happens here, and it happens on 2 iPhone 4 and iPad 2, all updated with iOS 5.1.

It started just on 16 morning. Has it to do with iPad 3 new sells?

It's funny because it starts updating apps at a random moments for some apps and never for others.

How can we submit it to Apple? My three months period has expired, yet, so I do not have any more a direct phone assistance

The only option that seems to have any effect is deleting the files in the download folder via iexploer and re-booting. In my case it certainly worked for 1 download and maybe even a second one. But the third one I tried I left all night and it was still in waiting mode this morning. I see some have had some sucess with iexolorier did they try and downlaod muliply apps?
