after ios 5.1 update apps won't download

I had trouble downloading the ios 5.1 update, but found a thread on here that pointed me to an open dns address, so i typed that in the dns field and it worked. I have the updated ios 5.1. I went back and deleted the dns address, connected to my local wi-fi and the internet and all functions seem to work fine, but when i try to download an app, whether it's one i used to have or a new one, it won't download. It begins to, then the icon flashes waiting/loading, waiting/loading, then a screen pops up that says "unable to download application. "imovie" could not be downloaded at this time. done, retry"

It's not just imovie, I've tried others as well.

i turned off and turned on. I can't sync now because i'm away from my laptop. i have verizon iphone 4s.

I'll tell you this, and maybe I'm just crazy, but since I upgraded to 5.1 and this issue happened, and then since doing the Reset All Settings just a few minutes ago, my retina screen seems a lot brighter and my icons and apps seem to have more detail than before. Again I might be crazy, but it looks like its just a lot better looking over all.

I experienced this on my iPad (iOS 5.1) and am able to update the affected apps by:

- removing (deleting) the "Waiting" apps from the device

- connecting it with iTunes

- dragging and dropping the apps back on to the device

After that I was able to use those apps again. It's only a workaround until an inevitable fix comes out, but it worked for me.

Thank you so much this did work. The only thing I want to add is after I hit reset all and during the set up phase of my Ipad and after the configure stage of setting up like a new ipad. When it got to the restore stage it asked if I want to from previous backup or like a new ipad stage. I chose restore from previous backup option plugged it in like it said on the screen and it did sync. However, when the sync was over my ipad screen then it took me back to set up stage and would not let me see my apps, so second time around I chose like a new ipad, then wala it brought all my apps were back and all my game data was still intact. I only had to change my backround to the previous one i used. Yes, the apps are now downloading. I think the display looks better as well. I still think Apple should fix this fast.

But thank you again.

In response to apps not updating since i put IOS 5.1 on my IPads.

In my previous reply to m. dives, I forgot to add that was for IPad 1.

The reset all m. dives suggested.

It worked great.

When I did my Ipad 2 (wifi only) I did not have to go though any of that.

I just went to General - clicked reset - then selected the reset all settings - Screen goes blank with apple icon - then it takes you to the set up screen like you have a new ipad - ask you to enable or not enable location settings - choose- hit next - then it has you set up your network connection again - once you choose and enter your wifi network password (if your network has one) click join, once connected - click next- then the 2 million page Apple agreement comes up (he, he, you need a lawyer to decipher), click agree- then wait for it and Wow, it went to opening screen. I did not even have to sync. All my photos and data still intact. The only thing I had to change was my wall paper settings. Even my notifications were still intact.

Thank you to m. dives for the reset all solution. It worked great on my Ipad 2. A little more work on Ipad 1 but still worked. I think the display looks better too.

Oddly enough I did not have a problem with my ipod touch and the upgrade. Go figure.

Get your act together APPLE. Mr. Jobs would not have been happy with these upgrade problems

I am sorry to hear I am not sure about the I phone. I only know based on a response I recieved by m. dives to this problem, the reset all for my IPad 2 worked great. Here is what I did. Again for Ipad 2.
