This should be your first stop for getting your IOS device to remember a network if you are having troubles.
It is quick, easy, does the job and requires no further entering of stuff.
(from PeeDib's 3/9/12 post)
"But I found a workaround by adding the network manually
Not by choosing from the network that shows up in the list.
Within WIFI setting
Choose a Network... > Click Other... > Add your wifi Name manually
(if there is security wpa,wpa2 according to your network, also password)"
Thank You, Thank You PeeDib!!!
This was a real timesaver. Unfortunately I already had about 16 hours and two replacement phones into the process of not solving this with wasted time messing with; router settings, resets of all kinds on the phone, trouble with 2 different IOS versions (5 & 6), and trips to the Fed Ex drop place. The notes app stayed permenantly open with network password handy so I could cut & paste it everytime the phone would go out & back in the network range (without being recognized or remembered), That was loads of fun. The Apple techs I worked with were all very helpful but unfortunatley not armed with this fix. I've shared it with a really nice senior tech who is spreading the word to his Fellow & Damsel techs.
TRY THIS FIRST!
Here it is again (from a macrumors site with slightly different wording:
1. Turn off WiFi 2. Turn on WiFi 3. Select "Other" - not YOUR network 4. Manually type in YOUR network name 5. Select the password type and then enter your password. |
peace all...
