Yep - this was an instant fix for me as well. Is there any need revert to previous DNS address after update?

I have 3 x ATV2's, 1 x ATV1, 1 x iPad, 1 x iPhone and 2 x iPod Touch's in our family. To date after several tries since the upgrade was made available, I have all devices updated except for 2 of the 3 ATV2's. I get the same message that everyone else is getting. They are all on the same network, and all hard wired. I randomly during the day and night turn the last two on and try to update but still no success. Apple, what gives????? If the other ATV2 upgraded after several tries and everything else is equal, why won't the other two? Very frustrated....

The solution is more simple than that. Just go to the ATV settings => General => Network => Configure TCP/IP => Manually=> Skip the IP address going directly to DONE = > Skip the Subnet Mask going directly to DONE =>Skip the Router Address going directly to DONE=> Now change the DNS Address to 208.067.222.222 ( before changing the setting write the number down so you can change it back once you finish) and hit done. Once you get the "Configuration Succeeded Message hit DONE and go back to Update Software. It will take a like 20 seconds to start downloading. Once the upgrade is completed follow the same instructions to go back and change the DNS Address to the original number. I have three ATV where I used this method and worked flawless.

What about those who have dynamic? do you know a solution on how to get Apple TV to set time and date? Currently, Apple TV tells me I'm on the Internet via built in ethernet. (I have Airport Express and it's talking to my two computers just fine. It's apple TV that is not playing nice.

Ever since I updated the software everything broke down. All I get is Home Sharing and Settings. It used to have the normal menu of movies, Youtube, podcasts, etc. Now apple wants my money for apple care to help them figure out what THEY DID when I updated Apple TV. Thanks.
