Quicken 2007 for Lion is out but won't launch

I downloaded the 2007/Lion Quicken for Mac (just came out?). I am using Lion...

When I click on it is asks for my password then crashes, or just doesnt open.

Has anyone gotten it to work for them?

tried the usual stuff, reboot etc.

it's happening to me too, and apparently to lots of other people.

Shame on Intuit.

I don't know if this will help anybody, but this is how I solved my problem. I was trying to get Quicken 2007-Lion running on a MacBook Air and an iMac. On the MacBook Air, I didn't have the 3vix plug in suspected of causing problems, nor did removing the quotes file from the data file package work.

Then I looked in the same folder that the 3vix would be (if I had it) MacintoshHD>Library>QuickTime and found these two files:

Google Camera Adapter 0.component

Google Camera Adapter 1.component

I don't know what these are for, but I deleted them, and it worked!

I thought I was set and started on my iMac. These same two files were not present on the iMac, nor was the 3vix file. However, Quicken wouldn't launch on the iMac. My solution was to move an already converted data file from the MacBook Air, where Quicken was running fine, and move it to the iMac, and it worked fine. It appears, at least in my case, that the crashes were occurring when Quicken was trying to convert my data file. I also tried to set up a new file, and it crashed then too.

So if you are having crash problems, you might want to look for those two files, or alternatively, find someone who is successfully running Quicken 2007-Lion and convert your data file on their computer, then move it to your own.

Same problem here, spent about an hour on the phone with "Roger" in Bombay and Intuit's rock star (not) Mac support. In the end, they refunded my $, and I'm still on Snow Lepoard, waiting... I have nearly 20 years worth of stock transaction history for investment accounts, retirement plans, etc. I use it everyday.

I'll problably keep SL on a partition and upgrade until they come out with a new version that actually solves the problem.

I am horribly frustrated. I switched back to Quicken 2007 from iBank in January. It was very buggy and kept quitting unexpectedly, but would reopen. Yesterday, after it prompted me to update the software, I am no longer able to open it at all, and Quicken says it is not supported and I have to pay for help! I am really sorry I purchased this and re-entered almost a year of transactions. Waste of time.

Is there any way to fix this? They said it was a CC-899 error.

Quicken 2007 keeps quitting, and it is the Lion compatible version. I finally got the attention of a higher up at Quicken, who is helping me. Initially, I dealt with people who were who knows where and who either directed me to pages that no longer existed or told me I had to pay a $10 fee for help for a piece of software I purchased that never worked properly. Now, I've got someone very helpful on the case. He sent me version 16.1.2 to use, which allowed me to at least access my data, but it keeps quitting, too. the current version 16.1.4, wouldn't even allow me to launch or open any files. I'll let people know what happens.

I think the idea of a 2007 program in 2012 is typical of Quicken's poor support for Mac products.

Where is Quicken 2012 for Mac?

Exactly how much of accounting has changed since 2007?

And: do you really want to purchase a new version of Quicken EVERY YEAR?

I was VERY happy with Quicken Deluxe 2002 until my iMac G5 died and I had to purchase a 2011 Mac Mini with Lion, which no longer includes Rosetta to run PowerPC apps.

From September 2011 until March 2012, I continued to run Quicken Deluxe 2002 in Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed into Parallels.

In March 2012, Intuit released its Quicken 2007 for Lion (rewritten for Intel) and I have been using that ever since.

However, ever more frequently on this forum, people have been reporting problems with versions 16.1.3 and 16.1.4 of Quicken 2007 for Lion. I personally had problems with 16.1.3 and reverted to 16.1.2.

Until these problems are isolated and solved (or a universally stable update is released), I continue to recommend that everyone stay with version 16.1.2, which seems to be universally reported as stable.
