New iPad delivery date

I ordered my new iPad early morning eastern time on Friday, the 9th. It was right before they changed the ship date to the 19th. My delivery date is supposed to be on the 16th. I check my order status every hour, and it still says "preparing for shipment", and that it will be delivered on the 16th. Yet, I'm very concerned that they will run out before mine gets shipped. My new Smart Cover, that I also ordered at the same time has already shipped. It shipped on Saturday, and just last night I finally was able to track it, and that is scheduled for delivery on the 15th, Thursday. Nothing on the iPad though.

I charged it on my check card, and the Smart Cover sale has already posted, but the iPad purchase is still "pending".

I'm worried that I ordered it too late, and they will run out.

Has this ever happened before, have they run out of pre-orders promised to be delivered on the release date? Or am I overreacting?

It's already Tuesday, and if I don't hear anything today, I don't even see how it could possibly be delivered on time, on Friday, the 16th.

I'd love to know where to get those rose-coloured glasses. UPS (Big Brown's a good name for them!) finally shipped my iPad out to Hamilton, Ontario. It got there at 4 am this morning and hasn't moved since (now nearly 1 pm...)

This *****!

Man, deep breath, move away from the computer, stop updating the tracking info and take a break 😎

Seriously, don't get your stress levels up over it as all you can do is be patient until it does arrive. Heck, your Canadian, go grab a brew and relax (it's what I'd do if I could right now - and no that is not a jibe at Canadians as I am one myself, born and raised just not living there now).

I'm in the same boat as Michael Hill7 - my shipment sat in Kentucky for five days, and now apparently is sitting in a warehouse near Hamilton, ON. It's not so much that delivery is unlikely before next week (which won't be a great hardship) after leaving Hong Kong on the 10th, as that UPS touts their 'Worldwide Express' service as being able to deliver next day - and so it could have been delivered from Kentucky by today. Did Apple specify delivery after the 16th, or is UPS unable to fulfill their service claim?

Tracking software may be hazardous to your health and sanity.

I loathe UPS with a passion. They insist on sticking it to the customer with inflated brokerage charges for cross-border transactions. And now they are screwing with Apple customers. I'm absolutely certain that Apple would not have inflicted unnecessary delivery delays on their clients. This reeks of some jobsworth deciding to hold things up for the **** of it..

So, after chasing UPS, I now know why there are delays. It seems that, rather than delivering early, or at the earliest possible opportunity, they have been sitting on packages, content to go for the latest dates and lowest delivery standards. Shame on them. Is this what Apple would have wanted for their loyal customers? I think not. I say Apple should boycott UPS in future. I know that I definitely will.

Mine left Kentucky yesterday after spending 5 days sitting on a shelf. It arrived at UPS Mount Hope at 4 am, then sat until 3.30 pm, when it left for Toronto, arriving there just after 5pm. It's about 20minutes drive away from my house, but UPS doesn't deliver over the weekend, so the earliest delivery would be Monday morning. It's really no more than I expected - as soon as I found UPS was the carrier. I don't ship with them if I can avoid it due to many previous poor experiences.

My order was placed on the 9th and was processed within hours, though Apple covered themselves by predicting delivery by the 20th rather than the 16th. Basically it spent two days in transit and the rest of the time waiting for someone to move it along. I don't mind managed delivery to make sure nothing was delivered before the release, but this was a colossal FAIL. Delivery will meet the mediocre standard promised rather than the higher standard met in previous years's orders.

I'm in the same boat. I think I turned a bit OCD this past week always tracking my shipment thinking it'd arrive today -- I was so psyched when I saw it was in mount hope when I woke up this morning. Wasn't expecting it to sit in mount hope for the next 14 hours. I heard fedex made sure there were more workers today just to ship these out... sure wish UPS did the same. SOO disappointed!

Mine too, sbeaton. I think our iPads are probably on a first name basis by now! What's particularly annoying is that I could have picked up any number of new iPads in stores in Halifax yesterday.

I also ordered a new AppleTV. It departed Concord, ON on the 15th. That's generally an overnight delivery to Halifax. No delivery and no update either.
