Can not install or update on the Mac App Store

I can not update or install new apps. Some work though, some do not. For example I can update GarageBand and UberStrikeHD(2 random apps that I have an update available for) and I can not update LevelHelper and Trillian(also just 2 random apps I have an update available for).

As for new apps ... Well, all that I tried they didn't download(ReadLater, CodeCollectorPro and RamOptimizer Lite, Apple Configurator are 4 of the apps I tried downloading). I get to enter my password, the app "goes" into the Launchpad, but the bar that should show the progress of the download gets filled instantly and the Appstore shows "Installed" instantly, while the Launchpad icon also shows the bar full instantly, but the app is obviously still greyed out since it didn't really download anything. Then after a few seconds I get an error:

"The application could not be downloaded. The requested URL was not found on this server". Cancel or Retry, retrying doesn't work either.

I am using a broadband internet connection, but I tried it with several USB devices and I got the same result (also tried sharing the broadband connection from a macmini and connect to it through internet sharing, still didnt work)... And I do not have 10.7.3 installed, since it is a 2GB update and my broadband data plan is capped at 4GB, but I doubt it will fix anything, since in the past I got this error before, but I have no idea how it got fixed. I also tried every Apple provided support article.

Console log shows 3 errors, as follows:

I selected a vpn sevice where i do NOT need to install additional software. I do not like to install additional sofware and dont know how to uninstall it later.

On youtube there is a screencast for the setup of a VPN just with the buildin network settings of OSX.

Hopefully Apple is going to solve that problem that I'm having to (Germany, Vodafone HSDPA). Because I have no DSL connection, I have to do all the internet stuff with the UMTS and it worked pretty well until right now. I haven't checked my App Store for a while and I wanted to download 2 Apps today aaaand, couldn't be downloaded and installed. Same problem 😟

Well i wait until they find a solution because the VPN thing isn't the type of workaround that i want to use. I want to keep it simple, not to offend your workaround 🙂 but the apps i tried to download are not so important that i would have to download them as fast as i could 😉 and because the App Store worked with the connection before, it's going to work again.

But still thank you.

No, Apple Support is completely silent on the matter. I doubt I will get any reaction from them.

I did have the opportunity to test the app store over a landline connection, and it worked flawlessly, just as it did for other users. Moreover, I purchased a couple more apps which I COULD download using my tethered phone. It seems completely arbitrary which apps work and which don't. Pixelmator, Osmos and Neverwinter Nights 2 worked (so it's definitely not about size), while iA Writer and a BetterSnao update failed.

This is frustrating, to say the least, and I will most likely minimize my use of the app store until I know the issue has been resolved.

No. No further reaction from Apple, just as expected. Instead they actually sent me an invitation for a survey regarding the quality of their Support. And boy, did I fill that questionaire.

Right now your only chance is to get your Mac to a land-based internet connection and download these apps and updates there. If you have a Macbook, take it to work, or Starbucks, or whatever. If you have an iMac or a Mac mini, well, that's too bad I guess. Unless you have a friendly neighbor who will share his wifi with you for these occasions. :-/

I tried a different Wifi HDSPA modem. To my surprise, I was able to access and download two apps from the AppStore. Then I turned back again to my HDSPA router, a Globesurfer III, and it also worked!! I can't understand why, because before I have tried with the globesurfer and two different computers (one iMac and one mini). I haven't changed configurations, just switched wifi modems in the airport icon. Maybe I wake up tomorrow and the AppStore will give the error again..I hate things happen this way, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Hope that could help.

Well, as I said myself, I managed to download SOME apps, but most of them dont work. Until a while ago everything worked. At some point in the past i experienced this before, but back then I plugged my HSDPA into my mac mini and shared the internet and it worked. This time it didnt.

Ah well, at least with VPN I can update or download SOME stuff, instead of none. Not a proper fix, but still useful.
