Can not install or update on the Mac App Store

I can not update or install new apps. Some work though, some do not. For example I can update GarageBand and UberStrikeHD(2 random apps that I have an update available for) and I can not update LevelHelper and Trillian(also just 2 random apps I have an update available for).

As for new apps ... Well, all that I tried they didn't download(ReadLater, CodeCollectorPro and RamOptimizer Lite, Apple Configurator are 4 of the apps I tried downloading). I get to enter my password, the app "goes" into the Launchpad, but the bar that should show the progress of the download gets filled instantly and the Appstore shows "Installed" instantly, while the Launchpad icon also shows the bar full instantly, but the app is obviously still greyed out since it didn't really download anything. Then after a few seconds I get an error:

"The application could not be downloaded. The requested URL was not found on this server". Cancel or Retry, retrying doesn't work either.

I am using a broadband internet connection, but I tried it with several USB devices and I got the same result (also tried sharing the broadband connection from a macmini and connect to it through internet sharing, still didnt work)... And I do not have 10.7.3 installed, since it is a 2GB update and my broadband data plan is capped at 4GB, but I doubt it will fix anything, since in the past I got this error before, but I have no idea how it got fixed. I also tried every Apple provided support article.

Console log shows 3 errors, as follows:

I thought it was something wrong with my mac but finally i found out it's a UMTS problem. I am actually without the dsl connection because it's broken and meanwhile i was using my vodafone internet key and the problem started.

Any other solutions?

I also had similar problem, although this would only apply to folk who have changed settings in their firewall OR have a security manager programme running from the company who supplied the modem/router.

I couldn't update iphone apps on my home wifi network, this was for all apple devices with apps so knew it was something general. I could however update the apps via 3G. In the end it was caused by advice I got from a security site to block the top 10 dangerous high level domains on my routers firewall. However, when I looked at my firewall settings it already had a bunch in there which were not on the router's factory settings .cn .ru .cc etc. so may have been put in there by the broadband company or the above mentioned security management software from them?

I digress, I added a few more 'dodgy' HLDs with the thought that I was protecting myself against the bad lads.

As it was a good while before I noticed that my iphone wasn't updating in the home I didn't connect the dots immediately.

This morning after one of my non-3G devices was showing 33 updates I decided to spend a bit of quality thinking time, in bed, on the problem.

A bit of deduction later and a quick visit to the router config pages and bingo! The apps started flooding in.

Apple must be using an app server registered in one of the high-level domains on the 'dangerous' HLD lists?

As I reset the firewall to it's factory default for domain blocking, I can't tell which of the dozen in the list was the offending HLD.

I dont know if this will help at all but as I scanned a few posts above I noticed folk getting their updates via VPNs/proxies which would effectively detour around their own firewall blocked domain settings.

Worth a look?

As I said, my router came preinstalled with some blocked HLDs from the ISP. Maybe yours does too?
