Can not install or update on the Mac App Store

I can not update or install new apps. Some work though, some do not. For example I can update GarageBand and UberStrikeHD(2 random apps that I have an update available for) and I can not update LevelHelper and Trillian(also just 2 random apps I have an update available for).

As for new apps ... Well, all that I tried they didn't download(ReadLater, CodeCollectorPro and RamOptimizer Lite, Apple Configurator are 4 of the apps I tried downloading). I get to enter my password, the app "goes" into the Launchpad, but the bar that should show the progress of the download gets filled instantly and the Appstore shows "Installed" instantly, while the Launchpad icon also shows the bar full instantly, but the app is obviously still greyed out since it didn't really download anything. Then after a few seconds I get an error:

"The application could not be downloaded. The requested URL was not found on this server". Cancel or Retry, retrying doesn't work either.

I am using a broadband internet connection, but I tried it with several USB devices and I got the same result (also tried sharing the broadband connection from a macmini and connect to it through internet sharing, still didnt work)... And I do not have 10.7.3 installed, since it is a 2GB update and my broadband data plan is capped at 4GB, but I doubt it will fix anything, since in the past I got this error before, but I have no idea how it got fixed. I also tried every Apple provided support article.

Console log shows 3 errors, as follows:

You seem to be having the same trouble I have had, I am using Vodafone and a pocket wifi with a MacBook pro 13".

Where I live is very isolated and after multiple attempts I kept getting the same error as you. Recently I have gone over to the mainland and all is working ok with the same modem and without changing on setting.

The ingredients to the problem seems to be the edition on Lion, Vodafones network and the pocket wifi.

Sorry I can't help but maybe more data can help.

I don't think it's Lion OS related. I had this problem when I used Snow Leopard and I thought upgrading to Lion might solve the problem. It doesn't.
I have a feeling this may have something to do with HSDPA because when I bring my Mac to a friend's place and use their internet connection, everything works fine. I only experience it when I'm using my house connection.

Maybe, I do not have the necessary knowledge.. I can only tell that, at my house, two different modems experienced the same, and is not happening always (but very frequently), and it is not app related (by size or whatever). It is not the Mac model either. It happens both on my Imac, my MacBook and my Mac mini. When I bring the MacBook to the office, it works, uder a different connection obviously. Have you ever tried to change your DNS addresses? My iMac is now working much better after changing the DNS from OpenDNS to the one my phone ccompany supply.

i think it have nothing to do with DNS and this stuff

it depends on your UMTS/3G provider which are changing the original data stream to include some silly compression stuff ... to avoid high data bandwidth. but that this can destroy some server responses and server poor image quality the ignore the comsumers. even the hotline stuff do not understand this technical problems :-(

at t-mobile.de it is called speed manager ...

if you google for this text you will see which this can be. even if you disable this it is not disabled fully like at my account

but here the keywords for a google search: bmi 1.2.3.4 script

I've been following this post since I came across the very same problem. I have a Vodafone 3G connection here in Fiji that was working perfectly then all of the sudden I can't download or update any apps from the App Store. I'm running 10.7.3 by the way. Anyway I found a way to get it working agian. I turned on Hotspot Shield and then tried the App Store again and presto, all working now. Not sure why but at least I can purchase and update apps again. Hope this helps a few of you.

Apr 26, 2012 3:42 PM in response to Rolandleth

I'm not sure that is correct with my connection as I just updated an App and the size was over 69MB. Not sure why it worked. I've also downloaded movies over 1GB over the same connection. We have a very good deal on 3G with Vodafone here, just $89.00FJD for 20GB per month. I know apps downloaded on my iPad directly are limited however to less than 50MB.

Apr 26, 2012 5:33 PM in response to Ashka

this 50MB (20MB) is on the iphone/ipad itself. its a apple limit.

the data plan has no limit.

for example: if you have a 3G stick on macbook and then you are connected with iphone to this macbook via wifi then you have no limit (because over wifi)

and 3G on macbook is also unlimited (except the data plan of your provider)

I have the exact same problemwith mac mini, vodafone and huawei pocket modem! I can't download most apps and the vpn solution didn't work for me. This problem is not related to os x because i had it with snow leopard and with lion, too. However, when i installed os x mountain lion dp1 the app store worked at first but then the same. I also tried formatting the entire hd!
