how can I install logic studio 8 in my new macbook 10.5.8 ?

I purchased a logic studio 8 and when trying to open the icon that begins installation there is a message that says that powerpc applications are not supported by my system, I have a Mackbook pro with quad processor.

Is there a way to fix this or to set it in a partition of my mac, I am a bit frustrated and dissappointed in this, please help!

Hi Scorpii,

It took a week to run each .pkg file.

Now it's done. Pacifist is still opened.

I try to open logic from the application menu, a window open saying logic won't launch and process failed. I can' t relaunch i have the same message.

I wait for your reply before quiting pacifist.

I am pretty sure i followed the steps correctly.

In the process, i never entered any S/N....I never had any window asking for it....

It drives me crazy.

Thanx for your help.

Hi, Ju.

Sorry I haven't replied before now. [and I'm also sorry this is taking so long and being so frustrating]

When I did the install the entire process only took an hour or so.

It shouldn't take a week to run each package file.

All Pacifist does is replace the PPC loader that isn't present in later versions of the Mac OS after Snow Leopard.

You should also shut down Pacifist after it's finished.

Another thing. Have you run software update?

The instaled version of LP is probably 8.0. The latest is 8.0.2. That may make a difference.

I am also unsure what version of the Mac OS you are running. If it's Mavericks then LP will not work.

Serial number is asked for when you run LP for the first time.

My suggestion. Close down Pacifist and then shut down your mac.

After restart try and run Logic.

[The program is installed in the Applications folder? If it's somewhere else it won't work. The Apps folder is the default, so if you ran the installer packages one after another everything should be in the right place]

Another thing to do is ight click the Logic icon in the apps folder and select package contents. See what's there and try and determine if everything is in there.

regards.

judeuf,

Are you trying to do this from the orginal Logic 8 disks?

If so, the disks are probably the cause of why its taking so long... (scratches, dirt and so on.. along with your DVD drive might be a little flakey..making the disks hard to read..)

so,

Make disk images of the disk(s) and install via Pacifist, from the disk images.. Should be much faster and more reliable.....
