apps/app updates not downloading since ios 5.1

This seems to be an isolated issue on some iPhones and I've seen articles posted online for this issue and the top two suggestions they offer is to try a reboot or wait it out. This weekend I had tried to update 8 apps and they were all stuck on waiting... and I left it over night and in the morning they were all installed. Then there was another app update and the same thing happened right away with the waiting... and I waited for about 12 hours before it started to download. Now on my iPad 2 running 5.1, the same as my iPhone 4, doesn't have this issue. I don't know if this is an issue related to iTunes or a new found bug in iOS 5.1. I can say my phone has done this once in the past running iOS 4.3.1 I think it was but this is the first time since.

I was having the same problem. This fixed it:

"i had the same problem. Found a solution though. I had some podcasts waiting to download in itunes. Went to itunes and cancelled those downloads and boom, the apps started loading up."

This fixed my issue with "Waiting" downloads. I looked in iTunes and low and behold, there was a podcast still waiting to download. I deleted it and, wonder of wonders, all my apps started to load their updates! Clearly a bug that needs fixing Apple!

I have had the same issue but can't seem to fix it. 😟

Alright I figured out the solution. Sign out from the app store, then download the app and sign in there. Then it will ask to sign up for auto downloads. Do that and it will load. Worked on iPhone 4 and 4S

Podcast loading un the background was the problem. As soon as I paused it, apps began downloading. People with this issue should check their iTunes app to see if they have anything downloading.
