How to disable Genius Mixes on IOS - Ipad2?

All of a sudden my playlists on IPad (Itunes Match enabled) are showing a whole bunch of Genius Mixes -- (what is "Stoner Rock?)

It seems like Genius was recently added to Itunes Match, however, I have it hidden on my Mac (doesn't look like there is a way to turn off Genius with Itunes Match).

Is there a way to remove these Genius Mixes from the Ipad? I don't want to have them clutter my playlist selection screen.

They are not showing up on Iphone.

I think it is a confuse internally on preferences, but we are not authorized to modify or delete any of this files.

I lost all my playlist, and have a case opened in Apple Support about it, while they investigate this issue I syncronized my music manually to iphone, I can't use Music Match again, I could ask for my money back, if they can't solve my problem.

You cannot disable genius if you use iTunes Match. You can complain about Apple if you want, but it is in the iTunes Match TOS (The thing most of us just accept).

"When you use iTunes Match, Genius will begin associating information about the media in your iTunes library with your Account; the association with your Account will continue for a period of time after your subscription ends. Apple will otherwise use this information as described in the Privacy Section of this Agreement. You will not be able to disable Genius while using iTunes Match, so if you prefer that we do not collect and use information from your iTunes library in this manner, you should not use iTunes Match."

I'm not really concerned with whether 'non-personally identifying' information is being sent to Apple under the name of Genius as that may be something that's needed for the Match service to function correctly. I just want their stinkin' Genius Mix Playlists outta my face when I'm using my iPad. You can hide the Genius Mixes list in iTunes & you can rearrange the icons on an iPhone so you don't see Genius unless you tap MORE ... but there's no way to hide them on the iPad and that's not okay. It's a UI problem, not a service functionality problem.

Feedback sent to Apple in 6-COLORful language.

Creating a "My Playlists" folder is a nice workaround until they fix this mess. I do not understand how a new version of iTunes got released without a fix for this. I understand Apple wants to cross-sell with Genius, but I should still be able to opt out or at least arrange the Genius lists to somewhere else. I just had another related issue where new, empty Genius playlists materialized from the ether. I had to click the list; save it, causing a crash; edit it; and then delete it...nuts...

After going blind reading the posts about trying to remove duplicate Genius Matches on my iPad Mini, all it took was three taps of the finger.

Go into Settings and scroll down to Music and select it. (first tap)

Find iTunes Match and if it is ON, which it probable is, select it to turn it off. (second tap)

Go out and open Music and you will see an empty playlist folder.

Go back into Settings/Music and select iTunes match to turn it on again. (third tap)

Go back to Music and you will see your own playlists and all of the duplicate genius matches will be gone.

This worked for me.

David, it's not that Genius is a bad concept...I personally love Pandora and, to a certain extent Spotify (because I can't use Pandora when I'm in the UK), but the point is that those services actually work. Genius doesn't. Its recommendations are completely off the wall and seem to be based more on the assigned genres and buying habits of other people rather than on the essence of the music itself. Pandora uses info from the music genome project to provide recommendations and to build playlists. I don't exactly know what Genius uses, but whatever it is, it $ucks (I can't believe they filter that word). Kinda like Apple maps did / does. I see Apple going south pretty quickly, unless they can really innovate again and deliver simple, easy-to-use products that work.

I pretty much share everyones frustration here about those pesky playlists, but am coming up to my iTunes Match subscription renewel date in March so for me its simple now, it's just a service with an irritating feature, and am unlikely to renew since there are tons of other cloud music backup services around. I don't even download music using iTunes Match enough really to warrant the service anyway. But I feel for those who aren't at the end of their subscription. It is an intrusion and affects the whole experience of iTunes Match. Music for many is personal, and so is how they like to organise their music.

Its just a shame though that Apple are obviously putting their marketing strategy and the big music companies before their consumers which is a VERY BAD IDEA APPLE and not a very good marketing strategy!

Apple consumers use their products partly because of the seamless nature of the UI and this completely contradicts that policy. Lets hope this is a one off because if such policies start becoming commonplace with other Apple products I could see Apple heading towards that same place they were at before Steve Jobs rescued the company - only he is gone now and won't be around to help a second time around.

Hopefully if enough people stop subscribing to iTunes Match it will affect revenue enough to make them change their minds.

Dear Apple, I am a DJ, I really don't need you creating playlists for me, thankyou.

There is a way to get rid of the empty playlists instead of hiding them, I got this from DEMO. If your on an ipad and you have empty playlists, just tap save then edit then done, and go back out to the main playlist screen. Tap it, and you should be able to delete it. Just of anyone who wants that simple solution, I have no idea how to get rid of it completely.

The procedure snopper4321 and Age of the Geek listed works for me. When I "save" the genius playlist and then go back to the playlist page, the one I saved is the last one in the list of duplicates. That is the only one I can delete by holding it down and getting the little X. You have to do this individually for each of the duplicate genius playlists. I have Genius disabled, so I don't know how I keep getting these empty playlists, but thanks for posting the method for getting rid of them!
