How to disable Genius Mixes on IOS - Ipad2?

All of a sudden my playlists on IPad (Itunes Match enabled) are showing a whole bunch of Genius Mixes -- (what is "Stoner Rock?)

It seems like Genius was recently added to Itunes Match, however, I have it hidden on my Mac (doesn't look like there is a way to turn off Genius with Itunes Match).

Is there a way to remove these Genius Mixes from the Ipad? I don't want to have them clutter my playlist selection screen.

They are not showing up on Iphone.

iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1, Itunes Match

I've been looking around for a fix to this for a while as well. This will probably get deleted, but I found something crazy recently that makes me even more upset about genius. I'm not sure about you guys, but my music collection is freakin huge. I was a DJ for five years, so I've got over 1000 CDs that over the years I've dumped into iTunes, and purchased a ton from there as well. All in all, I've got about 50K items in iTunes. Unfortunately, since iTunes forces you to use Genius, whenever I load it up, it takes at least seven minutes for the library to fully load. Granted, I've got an older PC, but that is just silly. It got even sillier when I saw a tip about deleting your Itunes Genius Library.itsb file. I delete it out, and iTunes loads almost instantly! So not only do I get phantom playlists, not only is it a fun little add on at best, but it slows down my startup time exponentially. All I can think of at this point is that iTunes is data mining with Genius. I've never met anyone who has a device that actually uses it.

I'm not saying anyone should do it, but now about once a month, I delete out that file and resume using iTunes like it was meant to be used. I'd love to hear if other people with large collections are having the same nonsense issue with a useless add on.

Unfortunately there is no option to turn off Genius in the store drop down menu, at least not if you're using Match. So while I think Match is a great product you are absolutely penalized with unwanted playlist clutter and cruft on your iDevices in the process. Totally invasive and unnecessary. It's a shame really and is the kind of overreaching control that ****** some people off about Apple and their occassional "our way or no way" approach.

I've been a huge fan since 1996, but this last year Apple has really started impeding me as much as they've been enabling me. Censoring my emails etc... Anyway, I'm now ranting. Let's just say that for the first time since '96 I'm open to the idea of switching to another system.

Exactly, there's no apparent way to get rid of the "Genius" playlists on my iPad (3) and keep Match enabled. Puts the stupid in genius if you ask me, now I have to scroll through 13 of Apple's playlists before I can see my own. And to add insult to injury the scrolling is brutally jagged and glitchy (iTunes only) since I signed up for iTunes Match. Sometimes my iPad feels like my painfully crippled iPhone 3Gs (I'm waiting for 5, in Canada you get locked in for 3 years). If this isn't resolved I'll certainly take advantage of the potential to upgrade my matched tracks to 256, then I'll dump Match completely and reclaim my iPads smooth scrolling while riding myself of all the space wasting Apple generated playlists.

I can't believe how invasive this stuff is getting. Have we seen the end of 'upgrading' ....because it seems that time and time again, revisions can be defined by the functionality they dispose of, not what they add.

I found myself investigating the viability of a Dell Workstation running Windows 8 yesterday ....I'm on my 18th Mac in 20 years, but that's how p****d-off I am with Apple right now. Turns out though, that platforms are much like political parties ...there are no good ones, just ones of varying calamity.

The workaround mentioned above, placing all playlists into a "My Playlists" folder is a great one, as in iOS the relative folder level is persistent when changing back-and-forth between other views. No need to ever look at the Genius playlists again. Unfortunately, there is no way of deleting the numerous tracks that genius has already downloaded to my iPad without resetting the system, and now there's no way it seems of doing that without 'upgrading' to iOS 6. Ouchhh !!

I can't wait to see what iTunes 10.8 is going to dispose of with said functionality ....but the screen shots don't look too promising, and neither does the tagline that implies they've simplified it. Yeah, and wasn't it so difficult to use ...NOT. Having sold truck loads of music it does not seem to occur to them that people have huge amounts of music to organise and could actually do with some sophistication. Oh well, rant over, better listen to some Dan Gibson and get my energy rebalanced.

Yes, there is. Go to Settings > General > Usage. Tap the Storage button. In the list that loads, tap Music. In the Music screen, select Edit in the upper right corner. then tap the Minus sign to earse all the music that iTunes Match has downloaded to your iPad.
