New iPad with dust under screen

So I just got a brand new today. Boot up the gorgeous screen, go through the setup, reach a white screen and...

Nice big old piece of dust dead center on the screen. Tried cleaning it and rubbing it to no avail.

I know Apple is usually pretty good with sending you a replacement but should I expect a long wait for my brand new iPad I received today. Should I expect to wait 2-3 weeks for a new iPad or does apple usually expedite issues like this?

There is NO quality control.

Just bought my third iPad3 64 GB Verizon tonight. Unboxed it to find a small dent in one corner, sticky glue all around edges, 4G antenna sticking out on one side with sharp edge, and a flaw of some sort in the lower right corner.

They are simply JUNK!

No more for me.

I have the same problem. I bought my ipad 3 for 2 weeks. There isn't any problem accept the iPad is easy to have dust flown into screen. I think that dust can fall into through headphone jack so i have something to plugin so than dust cannot fall into but it still have more dust. I use smart cover when i don't use it but why it still have dust? How can i improve it?

Hello,

I just got my new ipad 32GB 4G 4 days ago, everything looked good but today with some sunlight I saw a little particle of dust (or a dead pixel) I am not sure how can I differentiate between both, under the screen.

The particle is really small, and at sunlight with the iPad turned off it looked like a white bright little dot, when the iPad is on it just looks like a tiny black dot. Since I found it I can't take my eyes out of it 😟

As the particle is really small I am not sure if Apple would take care of it and the problem is that I am now traveling so I am in another country from were I bought it. Do you think that if I take it to a local Apple Store (I am in New York City currently) someone will look at it?

Thanks!

I had exactly same experiences with the new replacment unit, I just replaced my 3 month old iPad 3 due to dead pixel, **** thing is that I found one dent around edge, and a small dust under glass with the replaced unit. Other than that, it is perfect. I will keep it for a period to see if dust will accumulate, right now just get tired of doing swap.

I had the same problem. My version is 32GB 4G black model. First time around I noticed like one dust particle in the right corner. It was bright white when sun refected on the screen and like a black dot when you where using it with only your black light. I also noticed my camera had really bad backlight bleeding at the top of the screen. I returned mine to my apple store and they replaced it with a new one. Problem is this one had even MORE f-ing dustparticles. All. Over. The Screen. So I replaced it AGAIN and this time, there were two dust particles on the screen, one in the lower right and one on kind of in the middle. But, It dont show when you are surfing. It only shows at certain angles when bright light shines on the screen. So Im not gonna take any more risk, Im gonna stay with this one because I really need to have the ipad directly under a lamp to see it and it reflects poorly.

So if it's just shown when you have sunlight on the screen I would suggest keeping it because it's not worth all the trouble. All tought I do agree, it's a lot of money and they really should fix it!!

Oh, my backlight was fine with the third replacement I got.

Hi! How did you know it was dust under the glass and not dead pixels?

My ipad 3 has 3 pixels that when on a black screen display random colors, depending on the view angle.

So I don't know if those are dead pixels or dust. Anyways, I'll be sending this to the closest mac store. But since this is my second ipad (first one had a black pixel). I just want to know whats going on so I can tell the mac guy.

Thanks! and sorry about my bad english 😝
