iCloud mail problems

iCloud mail problems

For the last 26 hours we are unable to receive emails from our iCloud account.

The message is 'Cannot Get Mail, the user name or password for iCloud is incorrect'.

I do not think that my user name or password is incorrect as it works for all other related iCloud services and iTunes, etc.

Even after changing the password, the iCloud mail error is persisting on all devices, iPad, iMac, MBP, iPhone.

Any help anyboby?

Cheers

Not sure who you guys are talking to. I called Apple Support yesterday evening. The person I spoke to said they had gotten word yesterday morning that there were issues with iCloud Mail that were being worked on. My Mail came back about an hour after the call. Incidentally, my son's mail was unaffected. My guess is the new iPad introduction, which tosses millions of new devices into their system in a very short period of time, bogged things down.

BTW, earlier yesterday I tried the password chnage to no avail, though I have a nice, cryptic password now.

I've been running into sporadic problems with iCloud/MobileMe mail today (March 21st). Sending mail causes an "incorrect or missing password" loop. I re-enter my password in the error popup multiple times and eventually the message will send.

It's a MobileMe account I've had for years. No changes on my end and it's been working fine for several months now.

In Mail Preferences the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) shows "MoblieMe (iCloud, Offline)". Reset everything and still no change.

It looks like something is amiss with iCloud email again today. Just wondering if others are experiencing this.

Here is your solution:

Mail > Preferences > Accounts > enter the following information in the incoming and outgoing mail server!

IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:

  • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
  • SSL Required: Yes
  • Port: 993
  • Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
  • Password: Your iCloud password

SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:

  • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
  • SSL Required: Yes
  • Port: 587
  • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
  • Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
  • Password: Your iCloud password

Our email has been down since last Friday as our password (which I know is correct) keeps being rejected by the what was the Mobileme server (iCloud) now. So I keep error messages to enter my password or verify my Mobileme member name and password in system preferences even though I've already attempted this numerous times. I've even deleted and recreated the mobileme account three times to no avail. Mobileme email failed for a week after I migrated the account to iCloud then only worked again after deleted it and recreated it. Now after a little less than a week it quit again. So I wish the iCloud "geniuses" would address this aggravating problem. I'm sick of having email down although I can still log-in on the web account.

I've sent that error report about a dozen times. The password issue, and the unable-to-load-mailbox issue, while they've been giving me trouble for a couple weeks, are sporadic. One minute I can get in and the next, I can't. I also noticed that if I sign on via computer and delete some messages from my mailbox, if I sign on with another device an hour later, those messages are still there.
