Mar 20, 2012 6:53 AM in response to Christopher GM Powersby MLadd,Yes, I am having the same issue. Cellular connectivity goes out whenever the device is put to sleep or switched to a WiFi network. I have to go into Settings -> Cellular Data and turn that off and then back on. It instantly starts working again.
I'm sure there will be a fix for it soon. (Yes, I've reported it)

Mar 20, 2012 5:27 PM in response to MLaddby d4,Same issue for me, I went to the Apple Store and had my unit swapped out. Same issue remains. Hopefully they resolve it with the soccer update soon.

Mar 21, 2012 5:33 AM in response to Christopher GM Powersby Calistograph,I have this problem riding the metro. I get super fast LTE here in D.C. area (at home and work). When I'm riding Metro and go into tunnel, signal of course drops off. Soon as I get out of tunnel I get 5 bars LTE again but no connection to internet. I get a popup window that says my cellular plan is not activated (or something like that). Clearly my plan is activated and it's not all used up because haven't used that much off of WIFI. I too have to turn off cellular data in settings and turn it back on. Then it's fine. I haven't waited more than 2 minutes to see if would reconnect by itself. I shall have to try that and I'll report back my findings here.

Mar 22, 2012 5:40 AM in response to Christopher GM Powersby pearlake,Same problem as all of the above with the additional issue that AT&T seems to time me out of the 4G connection after no activity. Then I have to go to settings and turn Cellular off/on.

Mar 27, 2012 6:24 AM in response to Christopher GM Powersby Burkow,I have unfortunatelly the same issue. I do not have the LTE, becasue I have the European model without LTE. But I have the same problem with losing the internet connection using cellular data (3G) although I have strong signal and 3G icon. Very frustrating

Mar 27, 2012 7:09 AM in response to Calistographby Ralph9430,I see the Cellular Plan not Activated message frequently when the cellular signal is either weak or when it varies rapidly in strength. This always happens when I'm in a vehicle of some kind traveling rapidly. The variation can easily happen on the Metro in DC when going into and out of tunnels but other nearby interference can cause it as well. Normally I just ignore the message and have a little more patience. This allows the iPad to eventually connect to the cellular network and finally connect back to the Internet.
If the signal strength variation happens quickly from bad to good and back to bad, etc. the cellular circuitry may not ever have time to complete the connection and you'll see that message again.

Mar 27, 2012 7:42 AM in response to Ralph9430by dpollok,Same problem here! Using WLan and then 3G at another location, the iPad shows me a full connection on top, but no internet connection can be etablished...

Mar 27, 2012 8:03 PM in response to Christopher GM Powersby AndrewB7,I am another person having a similiar problem! I have a new iPad 64GB + 4G w/ at&t. I am on my 3rd SIM card and 2nd iPad. Within the last 26 hours, I have talked to 4 individuals at at&t and 6 at Apple. Currently I am waiting for at&t to get back to me with the results of a "network check", by NLT 8p on 28 March.......
My problem is that '4G' drops either while I am sitting at my desk or traveling, but does not reconnect on its own. I have to either toggle airplane mode or cellular data on/off. Typically the drop occurs with 2 to 5 bars showing...... Note sure what to do, as both Apple and at&t have told me that there have not been other reportsof this issue.
After 4.5 hours on the phone tonight and 2+ hours with a trip to the Apple store last night, it is getting a little frustrating.
Should note that I am also in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mar 28, 2012 2:55 AM in response to Christopher GM Powersby Burkow,It is getting even worse. Today when I lost connection (although I have full signal 5 bars and 3G icon) I had to switch the device off and on to bring it back. Switching off/on airplane mode or the cellular data on/off did not help. This is really bad!

Mar 28, 2012 11:09 AM in response to AndrewB7by pixestential,Same problem. Also in St. Louis. 64gb iPad with Verizon LTE. If I turn off wi-fi or move out of wi-fi range, the LTE doesn't automatically connect to the Internet. I get plenty of bars and the LTE symbol, but no Internet unless I restart. (Haven't tried toggling airplane mode or toggling cellular data.

Did you all restore your new iPad from archive (from ipad 1 or 2) or set it up as a new device?

Apr 5, 2012 2:00 AM in response to Burkowby MLadd,Two completely different issues. These are not even 4G models. They are WiFi only.

Apr 5, 2012 2:03 AM in response to MLaddby Burkow,"The issues appear to affect the WiFi-only model of Apple's latest hardware, with SIM-connected variants apparently safe due to the black antenna panel" I posted this to outlined that our issue still is not public! And should be!
