iPad 3 is not connecting to 3G service internationally

Hi,

I just bought the new iPad (3) and got it out of US.

I inserted my local micro-sim which has 3G service enabled. 3G is detected on my iPhone 4 using the same sim. However, the iPhone 4 has an "Enable 3G" button which is missing from the iPad 3.

Both are on iOS 5.1.

The iPad just shows "E" (Edge), but not 3G. The internet works on this, but offcourse very slow.

How do I Enable 3G on the new iPad outside the US?

Thanks!

Mohit

I also had the same problem when i upgraded my iPad3 iOS5 to iOS6. My 3G was lost and only edge appeared. I called the technical support of my broadband service provider but to no avail. I brought my unit eventually to the service center of my provider and the technician had my APN set to the specific settings which here in the Philippines is minternet.

Going to settings, turn off the CELLULAR DATA so your iPAD would search your service provider and when it hits your service provider, voila! you get a 3G coverage.

Hope this will help.

I had the same problem on IPAD after updating to 7.0.6 . I did reset all network settings. Done complete restore again, but didnot solved my problem. But the thing i dont want to do with the ipad was the jailbreak. I tried the Evasi0n jailbreak and installed ccsettings from cydia and it gave the option of 3G on /off in control centre. (Swiping up from home button and then your see many controls and then you can swipe left or right and you will see 3G button) . I just switched on the 3G BUTTON and solved the problem of stucking in Edge on ipad and 3G started working perfectly. It's sad IOS 7.0.6 has bug and does not enable 3G on IPAD

I had been wondering for a long time why I never got a 3G connection on my iPad, but since I was almost always connected to WiFi I hadn't done anything about it.

Today, I took the iPad with me to London, intending to use it to do some work while there. The connection was mostly GPRS, with the occasional Edge, but NEVER a 3G connection - even in the middle of London. My iPhone had 3G connection the whole time.

It sounds as if this is a known problem - it's been around for years. Is there a fix? Will my iPhone 2 be able to get a 3G connection at all? I would use the iPhone as a "hotspot" but of course Apple doesn't allow that.

I can't find anything on the main Apple site about it. Is this another of those problems that doesn't exist?
