No sound on iPad speakers.
Ipad doesn't appear on AirPlay menu, only Apple TV and Dock Connector. There is no sound on speakers. How I can solve that?

I found the same to be true. While watching video the iPad 2 internal speaker stopped working. Even the volume slider would not appear. When headphones were plugged in a volume slider would appear and the heaphones worked fine. I rebooted several times and tried switching the mute switch several time, but nothing seemed to fix the problem. Looking at the dock connector under a magnifying glass revealed some debris and possible corrosion.
I powered down the iPad, sprayed some electrical contact cleaner into the connector while holding the iPad right side up so the liquid cleaner would run back out along with any debris. Then I inserted the charger connector (without being connected to a power source) several times and sprayed it again with contact cleaner. After several cycles of spraying and inserting the charger plug, the debris and corrosion no longer appeared under a magnifying glass. The volume slider now appears and the internal speaker works perfectly.
If you do this, remember to use proper electrical contact cleaner, the type that evaporates and leaves no residue, and be sure to fully power down the iPad before spraying into the connector. Also, if you choose to clean the metal tabs on the connector, do not use metal or anything that will scratch the plating from the small metal connector tabs. A wooden or plastic toothpick might work if it is gently used.
Thanks for your tip, I used a toothbrush with alcohol then make a hard reset and after 15 days with no sound all it is working fine again. Apple support told me to make a complete reset after backup and I lost many information because iTunes make a second incomplete backup.
Thanks again, after many ideas yours it what probably many need.
Trooper Sam's solution worked for me: Plug in earphones to hear sound. After sound/music begins press the pause button then disconnect earphones. Viola! Sound is back! Thanks Trooper Sam.
I had the same problem with my iPad3 and tried the fixes here with no luck. After some more research I noticed that iPhones have the same issue and it is not hardware related. The fix for me was to use the iPad doc connector (I plugged it into my car stereo) and then turn off the stereo and disconnect my iPad. Immediately the sound started coming through my iPad speaker and the iPad option is once again available in the air play drop down. Good luck!!
Hi All,
My iPad 2 has very close same problem with sound for 2 months so far. Last night, I just erased all data and reset to factory settings as the condition of a brand new ipad with latest version 6.1.3 as well. However, the problem is still. Here is the details of my ipad 2's problem:
I just erased all data and reset to factory settings as the condition of a brand new ipad with latest version 6.1.3 as well.
Please help!!!
something FINALLY worked! Knew it wasn't my complete inability to understand the side button!
The headphone trick worked for me too but only after a few attempts. I also used canned air in the headphone jack and dock connector.
My iPAD 1 mysteriously had the same issue. I was ready to trade it in; but thought let me give it one last shot and look it up ... I can't be the only one suffering this kind of a problem. Low and behold this thread and many others.
In my case, some apps and music/video/youtube would work; but the keyboard clicks, the lock sounds, and some of the apps wouldn't. I tried the headphone trick; but that didn't do it. I didn't even try a restore; but what ultimately worked for me was I looked into the sound settings and tried to see if the text tone, alert, reminders, etc to see if those sounds still worked -- and it did. Then I turned off the lock and keyboard sounds and turned it back. Voila, that worked for me! 🙂
I do suspect the contacts are dirty or "short-circuited' somehow. I recollect it could be 1 of 2 things:
a) I had a water spill which wasn't a lot of water; but it could only take very little to screw the iPad up.
OR
b) The new device I recently got caused the issue -- It's a FIIO L11 (http://www.head-fi.org/products/fiio-l11-line-out-dock-lod-connector-with-usb-ch arge-data-port-for-ipod-iphone-ipad) that I use to play Pandora through my old receiver. I am thinking that static electricity build-up and me disconnecting it while the ipad was still playing or the receiver was still on caused the issue.
Either way, now I press pause for Pandora, turn off my receiver, before disconnecting.
So, I'll still do the contact solution/rubbing alcohol to clean it up just in case.
Thanks all for providing some valuable solutions. 🙂
This problem has been bothering me for weeks. Finally some advise that SOLVED the problem. Was just about ready to give up and take to repair shop. Thank you Hodar for the help.
I used windex and a qtip and then a little brushing with a toothbrush.
This issue happens weekly with my sons device. I'd be pretty PO'd had this not been a gift.
Note to self, Never, ever, ever purchase any APPLE products. Windows or android all the way....

You might want to have a sit-down with your son. In four years with my iPad and two years with my iPod, it hasn't happened a single time.
Ipad Air 2 , no sound internal Speaker when Play iTunes/ youTube , but plug in HEADPHONE = sound is Hear (ok)
that mean AUDIO circuit is OK, but software problem. checking below.
in YouTube video --> AIRPLAY = headphone only ( no other OPTION)
the correct must be AIRPLAY = " speaker Ipad"
for now it is a BUG , APPLE will Fix it later.
to FIX this problem , must do " RESTORE IPAD"
connect ipad to Macbook (usb) Then Open Itunes
1- do " Back up" ( 1 minutes if you did backup before)
2- do " Restore" ( 3 minutes only)
this will set IPAD air 2 back to "ORIGINAL MFG DEFAULT"
***** Congratulation= fix , AUDIO for internal speaker is working *******
now play youtube= airplay= speaker iPad , & play itunes = ok
Note: it is very nice . if you have set up cloud & same apple ID , everything will restore back include , all APP, iTunes SONG/ video
you do not need to reinstall APP , or SONG in iTunes etc...
APPLE made this is perfect . SAVE lot time
