Anyone else having "Noise" problems with iRig/Garageband/iPad "3"?

I've been using iRig/Garageband on an iPad 2 for almost a year now and it works well enough for my needs.

I've recently got an iPad3 but the noise levels are way over what I get with the iPad2. Any form of distortion pre-set seems to generate a massive amount of background noise. The only way I can lessen it is to be brutal with the noise gate to the point wher ethe sustain/delay level is hacked back to almost nothing.

I think it's a Garageband problem because when I use the Amplitude software I get no appreciable noise at all.

Anyone else finding this? Perhaps I should try re-installing Garageband on the iPad3?

Any suggestions, similar experiences?

(I know the iRig isn't exactly 'state of the art' but I'm not comparing it to, say, Apogee Jam. I'm comparing Gargeband on the iPad2 with Garageband on the iPad3 using iRig)

i also have this issue, i googled for it, i still dont get it.

I bought and, just updated, ipad/irig/garageband last week so there's always been noise to me.

Some guys on the internet say it's about the mic/headphone jack that bleeds signal so there's no other way the getting a dock connector.

You all say it's about updates and used to work fine.

I finally did the same, got an Apogee Jam. To be honest, I'm a kind of upset with Apple/GB team. Since we paid for this App, Apple should read and solve the issues reported in this forum, or at least, make a declaration. This is not a "little" or "new" issue, this is an old and big problem to most of us, however, Apple seams to have a "not-a-word" politic.

Hello,
I am using an ipad 3g 16gb with iOS 5.1.1
I am using Garageband version 1.3

When i try to play with my irig on amplifier mode i get an very irritating high tone.
If i put the volume half on top of the screen it dissapear.
The only problem then is that i dont hear any sound coming to my headphone.
I try it also to adjust the master and output on the amp but nothinh works.

I also use garageband on my Iphone 4 with iOS6 and garageband version 1.3 and it works perfect.

What is the isseu!!

I get really ****** off because i had very goed experience with garageband and worked soooo nice on my iphone 4 and now i bought an even more expensive device and it works just crappy.

excuse me for my bad english, i am just a simple dutch guy!

Yep, I have the same problem ... tons of noise and feedback using the iPad3 + Garageband + iRig. However, on the iPad 1 I do not have the problem ... and this is using the same guitar(s), cables, headphones and GarageBand issue .... so the only difference is the iPad itself ..... I do not have the problem on iPad 1, but do have the problem on iPad 3 ..... this sounds like something to do with the iPad hardware rather than than the GB software

I'm not sure it is the hardware. I didn't have the problem on iPad2 until I upgraded GB.

The 4 finger swipe trick sort of worked well enough on iPad3 to use iRig/GB until the last GB upgrade - it's now useless. I haven't used iRig/GB since I did the last upgrade (hoping for an improvement but it actually killed it stone dead).

Just tried swapping leads, no improvement. I think gustavstarke might have had a faulty lead problem in the first place but if it solved his problem, what's different from his set up to mine that he's okay now?

Joel, I've tried all the things you've suggested to me via email. None of them have worked. Sorry I haven't got back to you but I've not had a lot of time to play with my setup recently due to a heavy workload. I'll get back to you soon to try and help us both!

Perhaps the problem is a combination of software/hardware, but it is strange that when I had both the iPad1 and iPad3 set-up with identical GB issue version 1.3 (179.75), all the same settings (including Crosstalk protection "On") and the same amp selected and just swapping the iRig between the two iPads gave me horrendous feedback in the iPad3 but no such problem in the iPad1. I tried several guitar types, but still the same problem. It sounds as though the Crosstalk Protection isn't enabled on the iPad3, even though the screen says it is. If I disable the Crosstalk Protection on the iPad1, then it gives me the same symptoms as I get on the iPad3.

I'm really disappointed in this as Garage Band is my main reason for using iPad, and it feels as though upgrading to iPad3 has been a big waste of money for me .... Apple, your reputation is sinking with me!
