Anyone else having "Noise" problems with iRig/Garageband/iPad "3"?

I've been using iRig/Garageband on an iPad 2 for almost a year now and it works well enough for my needs.

I've recently got an iPad3 but the noise levels are way over what I get with the iPad2. Any form of distortion pre-set seems to generate a massive amount of background noise. The only way I can lessen it is to be brutal with the noise gate to the point wher ethe sustain/delay level is hacked back to almost nothing.

I think it's a Garageband problem because when I use the Amplitude software I get no appreciable noise at all.

Anyone else finding this? Perhaps I should try re-installing Garageband on the iPad3?

Any suggestions, similar experiences?

(I know the iRig isn't exactly 'state of the art' but I'm not comparing it to, say, Apogee Jam. I'm comparing Gargeband on the iPad2 with Garageband on the iPad3 using iRig)

I finally got to know whats happening.

When you plug iRig on an iPad it uses the same mini jack conection for input and output. So when you're playing a high distortion patch it becomes an issue due to the fact that output signal is a high gain one and blends with the input. There you have the tremendous amount of feedback.

I got to this conclusion when I pluged iRig on a 15" Mac Book pro. It has separate mini jack conections: one for the input and for the output. Guess? Noise disappeared even on extra high gain patches.

When you use iRig HD you don't use mini jack as input and output and that avoids the feedback problem.

So: if you want high gain with an iPad buy iRig HD. If you have a computer with separate input and output conections you can go for the old schools iRig.

I just randomly found a solution for Mac users with iRig (doubt this will work for iPad users).

Just don't connect to power while recording.
Everything is clean as a whistle and can finally use distortion without horrendous noise.
As soon as I put the charger back in, the noise is unbearable.

I guess until I buy a new interface I have to limit my sessions to as long as the charge is.

It's December 2016, getting close to 5 years after the original post to this thread and this issue is still happening (at least for me) using iRig2 AND iRig HD 2 with Garageband.

I've read the entire thread and tried the few solutions but the problem still exists.

Not sure if anyone's still following this thread, but have you guys/girls resolved your issues and if so how???

Also, will going to an Apogee Jam solve the problem?

Oh and one more question, will using the Audiobus app with Amplitube as the Garageband guitar source work? Amplitube does NOT have the feedback/noise issue for me.

I'm also having unbearable feedback issues. Using Jamup Pro with iRig HD on iPad 2 mini.

For the most part it's fine, but maaaaaan.... if I try to change a track I'm jamming to and bring up the list of songs to choose from: STWEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

If I touch the virtual amp settings in the program to try and mod the sound (virtual bass, mid, or treble knob for example): STWEEEEEEEEE!!!!

The only subparr resolution I've found is to unplugg and replug the 1/8" jack. makes no nevermind if Im using headphones, speakers, a real. amp on clean with flat settings. it's very infuriating.
