Black screen on ipad 2?

I have a big problem with my Ipad 2, since the last week i can't see anything on my screen? It doesn't fall or anything so I don't know what happen, do you already have this problem? When I press the power buttom or the menu bottom, the only thing I saw it's my screen it's kind of illuminated but it's all black.😕

I tried to restore it with no sucess, when I plugged it on my laptop i can saw that my Ipad respond and i can heard the sound on my ipad when i plugged it to my laptop, I can sync it but I can't see anything on my screen either. If you already got a similar problem, please give me suggestions or anything, I don't know what to do with it anymore 😟 .

Thank you!!!!

It worked for us! My fiancee and I have had this ipad for 2 years, after a year of having it we were experiencing the same issue. We put it away with anticipation of going to the apple store "one of these days." Befor going, we looked on the forum to see if there were any solutions before breaking the bank on the repair. As we were reading are jaws dropped!

First we tried it with the screen up dropping it from about 1 foot a couple of times softly. Nothing.. We tried hitting it on the couch arm.. Nothing.. We finally tried dropping it about 2 feet off the ground on its back again a little harder and Voila! the screen turned right back on! I can't believe it worked but it did! 😁

So I kept trying this, dropping and slapping thing for a few days, it never worked for me. And believe me we smacked the crap out of it and dropped it about 100 times....I finally got it working by resetting or restoring it to factory settings. The only bad thing for that is I lost everything on it. The nice thing is that you can get all your apps back if you paid for them, but you have to search for the free apps that you had. doing this you do lose all notes and info that you have stored on there.

Fonzie lives! Banging it worked for me too, at least for 3 weeks, then while I was using it it reverted back to 2/3 of the screen in horizontal lines. I've tried tapping it, dropping it, pushing on the back, etc., etc. My advise don't depend on it. Steve Jobs genius was only in making $. Quality control is greatly lacking at Apple. The Genius' at the Apple stores couldn't Fix anything, but they'll sell you a new one at a "discount".

Fool me once, shame on you!

Fool me twice, shame on me!

Never again!

Like the rest of the posters in this thread, the screen on my Ipad 2 remained stubbornly blank even after a hard reboot and multiple restores from within Itunes. When I pressed the Home button, the backlight would turn on and I could hear audio but the display would not work.

And like the rest of the posters in this thread, whacking the Ipad fixed it. I had to turn it upside-down and slap the top edge on my knee hard enough for it to hurt.

I'm stunned but joyous.

Yes, it works! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had to drop it several times at different angles. I tried a firm bed at first because I was afraid of further damaging it. That didn't work, and neither did my husband smacking it on his knee and tapping it. Desperate, and growing increasingly pessimistic and skeptical, I went for it: dropped it on the carpet (from about a foot and a half or so) and voila!

Good Stuff!

JohnofScott,

Thank you! I was ready to give up completely on my iPad2 32GB after my son lightly droppped in on carpet two days ago and the screen died. The backlight would turnon but the screen would stay black. Hard resets didn't work. Nothing worked and I could not really do anything with it. I tried banging it too but it didn't work.

Then I read what you wrote...ceremoniously walked into the middle of my living room...told my family to watch this magic trick... and said "iPad AWAKEN!"... and dropped it from about three feet on the carpet. BOOM. It works.
