I am almost ready to go back to a PC

I have nothing but troubles with my Mac Book Pro. The problems are so many I cnat even mention them all.

1. I can not update to the newest version or down load anything from a the App Store. When I do it fails and says I do not have permission to down load.

2. When I conect a camera to upload picture, It will not recognize any of my cameras. They never show up in devices on Finder, Iphoto, Apperture nor in the Utilities.

3. Anything that I try to airdrop from my wifes computer fails.

4. Someone told me to delete a file called "Library/prefrences/com.apple.finder.plist. I did not delete it becuase it does not exist!

5. The whole system crashes frequently when working with Aperture or I photo.

6. The apple store replaced the mother board over a year ago. They have rebuilt my photo libraries. The trouble is that I am overseas where there is not an Istore just an IStudio 300 miles away and I dont think they know that much.

Any suggestions before I go back to a PC?

macbookpro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

If they "Just Worked" as it is stated there would not be all the Mac forums with millions of posts for all different types of users.

That's just absurd. PC users will put up with non-functional systems for years because they have no idea how to use the system and there is no support infrastructure at all.

Mac users are perfectionists. A significant portion of these "millions of posts" are about people fretting over the CPU fan speeds and temperatures.

Show me a system with zero problem reports and I'll show you a system with zero users.

Shootist, maybe easier for you, but Macs don't have a registry to edit. They also don't have codependent DLLs to deal with. Macs I've not found broke down anywhere near as often. I've never had to call an administrator to help my Macs, where lots of times in the office environment I need to call one.

You know I hear this over and over, IE No registry. But OS X has many many plist files that do the same thing as the registry. Have you looked in the Application Support folders lately. That is because you aren't the Admin of your Office or your personal Work computer.

Why are you here? Windows has its own forums for users and as you clearly are one what do you gain by your constant promotion of Windows here?

Show me a system with zero problem reports and I'll show you a system with zero users.

And what support infrastructure is there for Mac? Other then the forums on the net. What call Apple for $45 a call.

And the normal Mac user knows more about computers then the normal PC user? I serious doubt that. Most people buy Mac because they are under the wrong assumption that they are better then a PC and won't have any problems with them. Then you come and see what thousands of posts a day about problems Users are having with all sorts of thing.

Mac Users Perfectionists? You have got to be kidding, right. If they were they certainly would not of bought a Mac for as far as I can tell it not even close to being perfect. If it was there wouldn't be OS updates and hardware problem

Right there are none. But that does not make Mac hardware o[r the OS any better then any other.

But TBH IMHO you are just a Apple/Mac fanboy.

I just did. Now if you really have a problem with that take it up with the Admins of this website.

How does this help?

When you get the chance go back to a PC. It is easier to fix, use and in general a better buy then any Mac.

I use both and find the Mac just as hard to learn, not so much for me as I am a computer geek, breaks down just as often, hardware and software, and is not that User Friendly once it does give you troubles.

If they "Just Worked" as it is stated there would not be all the Mac forums with millions of posts for all different types of users.

Good Luck.

It is free if you have AppleCare. Then there is that worldwide network of stores where you can just take your machine in and have it fixed.

No. Macs are just easier to use. Do you have any idea of how many machines Apple sells? They have been the largest single machine vendor or one of the top 3 for many years. Sure there are thousands of posts here a day, but there are litterally hundreds of millions of Apple products in use. Not all of the posts are problem reports. Many are people just asking questions, answering questions, or people learning how to use their products better.

The correct spelling is "fanboi". Please make a note of it.

I found a reply from Linc Davis on how to repair permissions on Lion. But it did not work for me but as you know I have many problems. I did log in as guest and my permissions are ok there. So there is something wrong with my admin account. Now just how to make another admin account and delete the original one.

Thanks for all the help you have been giving me. I hope I am not bothering you too much with my problems.

No problem and good luck.

If you do a google search there should be a Apple KB article on creating a new User Admin account and moving all you files over to it. Sorry I don't have a link to it.

I am almost ready to go back to a PC
