Every 15 minutes a whoosh sound plays from my new iPad

I have a question concerning my new iPad.

Recently I noticed that every 15 minutes a whoosh(y) sound plays from my iPad. It is like windflare moving along the window or something like that. I have search through the settings but have come up (for now) empty handed.

Has anyone else noticed this and if so, does anyone have a possible solution to turn it off?

A whoosh sound sounds like an app is sending a message, or trying to tell you something.

( funny sounds always end up being rouge apps)

To doulble tap the home button and see, or close down everything in the task bar. See if the noise stops. If that does not do it, open settings and look at each of the notifications that you might have turned on.

It's in there somewhere. there was a great thread last year on strange app sounds. From mr. luigi.

I have the same problem on my iPhone 4S, and I strugle with that issue for quite a while.

I've turned off all notifications, all Location Services and even all System Services (under location services).

I also changed the "send mail" sound from "Whoosh" to other sound, and the Fetch New Data to Off (under Mail, Contacts, Calendar)...

ALL of these actions haven't helped at all. The Whoosh continues as before...

Only when the device is setto Airplane Mode, the Whoosh stops, but resumes immediately at the moment the Airplane Mode is turned off again... Then it backs to whoosh every 15 minutes on the hour...

Any Idea ?

Definitely not solved.

Silencing the whoosh sound fixes nothing. It is making the sound for a reason. The real question is how to identify and eliminate the problem, not how to hide the symptom.

One thing I discovered is that an email that I originally sent 9 months ago is being sent over and over to the same recipient, sometimes as many as three or four times a day. They have received dozens of copies of this. My phone does not list any of these transmissions in the sent mail folder. There is no record of these transmissions when accessing the email account via a browser. It represents some form of corruption that I can't trace.

I completely wiped and restored my phone but the problem persists.
