iTunes Match - 'No Music' on iPhone 4

I have an infuriating problem that I can't get rid of with iTunes Match.

I have had iTunes Match since launch and it worked fine on my Mac, PC, iPad and iPhone 4 for months now. But since about 3 weeks ago, my iPhone won't work at all.

When I go into Music, I see the cloud logo appear with a progress bar. After about 3-5 seconds, it disappears and shows 'No Music'. All tabs show this, except Playlists - which accuratley shows all my playlists as they are in the cloud. Going into these playlists shows the songs that are in there - some appearently downloaded, others with the cloud download button - but none will actually play.

I've restarted the phone numerous times, turned iTunes Match on and off, everything. So last night I decided to do an iCloud Backup, then I totally wiped the phone and restored from the iCloud Backup. That worked fine, and when I went into Music the cloud logo with the progess bar appeared. This stayed on for maybe 10-20 minutes this time, slowly filling up. Then it bombed out and went back to the 'No Music' message again, exactly like before the wipe & restore.

I am so fed up with not being able to use Match on my iPhone now. I hope someone out there can help!

Thanks in advance.

I too would like to add my heartfelt thanks to Argonauts for the very helpful suggestion.

It's just ridiculous that Apple would not have rectified this immediately, knowing that so many who update are going to face this problem. Not many would think of what turned out to be the solution.

I really thought I was going to have to rebuild my whole playlist/icloud/iphone music collection!!!

Hi everyone. Thanks to MacWorld, I found an easier solution to the problem. From http://www.macworld.com/article/2010812/bugs-and-fixes-troubleshooting-ios-6.htm l

Changes to iTunes Match

Speaking of iTunes Match, when you first enable the feature on your iOS device, you will likely see an alert that states: “iTunes Match will replace the music library on this device.” This means that any music previously synced to your iOS device via iTunes on your Mac will be removed. Doing so also disables Genius Mixes and Genius Playlists.

This is different than how iTunes Match worked prior to iOS 6. Originally, you could enable iTunes Match and still retain music locally stored on your iOS device. No more. Now it is one or the other. Some cases of “missing music” may relate to previously synced music being removed.

This is not the only unwelcome change in iTunes Match. As noted in Macworld’s look at iOS 6’s Music app, you can no longer download individual songs from iCloud; it’s either an entire album, playlist, artist’s catalog, or nothing.

The iexplore solution worked for me. One caveat make sure you do the hard reboot to restart the phone (holding home and sleep button down until Apple logo appears). I missed that step at first and it didn't work, but once I did that I recylced iTunes Match off and then back on with music player shut down on the iPhone and then restarted the player and after 5 minutes of loading I was back in business. Crazy but I finally have my music back - yeh it sucked not having music

Thanks tons to those that figured this mess out.
