I checked the latest update, and now fcpx will import from my sony a65 in 60p, edit it, and then export it as 59.94. If I remember to change the preferences back to optimized rather than proxy, the exported file looks great.
My intel core2duo really needs to edit in proxy, as it stutters a lot.

A minor mistake:
*Importing from AVCHD folders copied from both internal memory and SDHC card onto Macintosh HD: 1080/50P not imported; 1080/50i imported.
So as summary: 1080/50P footages from TM700 can only be imported directly in FCPX 10.0.4 when you have inserted the SD card into Mac computer's SD card slot.
==> *Importing from the AVCHD folder copied from internal memory onto Macintosh HD: 1080/50P not imported; 1080/50i imported.
*Importing from the AVCHD folder copied from SDHC card onto Macintosh HD: 1080/50P imported; 1080/50i imported.
In summary: 1080/50P footages from TM700 can only be imported directly into FCPX 10.0.4 when you have inserted the SD card into Mac computer's SD card slot AND when you have copied the AVCHD folder from the SD card onto Mac's internal hard drive.

Why Aunsoft? It has a very poor reputation. Why convert to HQ? It's unnecessary for AVCHD media.
I connected my TM900 camera to iMac runing 10.6 Snow Leopard, but FCP X 10.0.4 does not read the 1080/60p AVCHD videos. Anything wrong?
1. Connect camera to iMac via USB cable.
2. Run FCP X, and choose to import from camera.
FCP X only displays the 1080i videos, not 1080p.
Two suggestions:
1) if your iMac has a sdhc slot, plug the card into that and try import from camera
2) if the card has different video mixed in, try recording a few seconds on a clean card in 60P and see if that works. Sometimes putting differently recorded media on a card stops import.

Don't know if it makes a difference, but when I connect my x900, I'm using Final Cut Pro X 10.0.4 under Lion.
Well, it works as you suggested. I have 60p videos on the SD card, and insert the card to sdhc slot on iMac. FCP X shows the videos for importing. 🙂
Hmm... It seems that it is because I am on Snow Leopard that FCP X does not get the 60p videos directly from tm900 ??
Hello, i also can confirm, that direct import from the Sony CX-730 1080p-50p is possible. But if you import directly, the audio is only stereo and not dolby surround 5.1 as if you first convert with the program "media converter".
Is there an possibility to get surround 5.1 imported directly via fcpx?

This is extremely helpful - thank you. What I do not understand is why FCPX will read the card when placed in the card reader but not from the internal camcorder flash memory or from cam mem files transferred to the desktop?

If you copy the whole folder structrue you can import from your desktop.
Does it have to be from an SD card or can I just copy the AVHD and DCIM folders from the camera memory? The latter es not seem to work for me. I must be doing something wrong.
Are you copying the entire folder structure, the whole thing, just as it in on the camera? Copy the whole thing. What exactly are you doing?
I have tried copying (a) Cam Mem to the desktop and (b) the AVCD and DCIM icons to a new folder on the desktop. Neither seems to work.

What does Cam Mem mean exactly?
And when you say it doesn't work, what is it that you're doing and what happening when you do it to try to import the video?
I ask because it seems to work for others. One problem can be if there are multiple formats of video on your media.
I assume Cam Mem stands for camera memory. The question that I am really asking is whether is is possible to import 1080/60p files from a Panasonic TM900 from the camcorder's built in memory? If so, what is the workflow?
