Was it that easy? Did you have to pay to talk with Apple Customer Support?
HOW TO REMOVE MACKEEPER AND ITS ANNOYING ADWARES AND ONLY SEARCH
i went to finder and searched mackeeper, then i dragged it to the trash and it asked for a reason for uninstalling and you can choose whatever and then its just gone.... 🙂
Finally got rid of this! But not via these steps on this thread. Found a different posting about the same behavior, leading to "MacKeeper" web sites by popping a new tab, etc. Basically you want to remove the Vsearch.framework per this site: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6442738
All you have to do is:
1. Open Finder
2. Go to applications on the left
3. Drag MacKeeper Icon to trash
4. Empty trash
It will then prompt you to either buy the full version (no thanks!) or uninstall it. Just click uninstall and OK.
Then you are all set. Took 2 seconds and you didn't have to download any random unknown apps or follow any unknown links.
Let me know if this works for anyone! :-)
You seriously revived a many-year-old thread to answer this?
The best way I've found to do it is install adware medic http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
Just download it and have it scan for adware. Cheers!

Note that AdwareMedic will get rid of MacKeeper pop-up ads being caused by adware installed on your computer. However, it will not uninstall MacKeeper itself.
I used Adware Medic http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php to kill Mackeeper and quick search after they bombarded me with spam, popup adverts and they took control of Safari. It took 2 mins and a restart. Absolutely brilliant.
Hope this helps somebody
Jay

Actually, just for clarification, AdwareMedic will not remove MacKeeper. It will remove adware that is often responsible for displaying MacKeeper ad pop-ups in your browser, but it will not remove the actual MacKeeper application. As bad as MacKeeper is, it's not actually adware, and thus not something that AdwareMedic should remove.
So, if you're seeing MacKeeper ads, AdwareMedic should help. But if you actually installed MacKeeper, AdwareMedic will not help with that.
Ring up Apple support, was on the phone in 2 minutes and they helped me remove all the pop up adds and MacKeeper from my Mac in minutes!
Thanks George, tried all other methods but nothing worked on my Mac until I have used I followed your advice Cheers Denise
