Thank You, sacmacguy! This quickly and easily fixed the problem of not being able to save pdf's from Safari!
In Finder Go to: Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins and look for "AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin" and move it to Disabled Plug-ins Folder (if you want to keep it). You will have to remove this file from the Internet Plug-Ins folder altogether. (I put mine in the trash)
In the ../Internet Plug-Ins folder you should also have the file called "AdobePDFViewer.plugin" leave this. In my case this was the older plug-in dated June 2011. This works. The plug that I removed was part of the Adobe updated I downloaded yesterday which was the problem (Thanks Adobe)
Relauch Safari and you should be able to save the PDF files.
Thanks sacmacguy. This solved my problem as well. I had all together given up on using Safari, but now I can resume.

Took me several days to find this discussion. Eliminating the "AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin" solved my problem as well. I placed it in the trash.

Thanks, this work like a charm!🙂
WhThFu, Apple? Really? Are you going to let yourself be outdone by GOOGLE?! I had same problem: couldn't print or save pdfs from the internet. I followed "Silly Rabbit's" suggestion and opened the pdf with Google Chrome. No problems.
Disabling or deleting the internet plug-in worked, too, BTW.
Moved "AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin" to Trash. (No Disabled Plug-ins Folder). Restarted Safari, can download fine. 10.6.8 on an old 2006 iMac.
THANK YOU! This worked for me too after wrestling with this for months.
Thi solution also worked for printing PDFs from Safari
thanks
Thank you SO MUCH for that Dansyacht - I had been struggling with that for 3 months! Solved! Thanks again!
Thank you very much for finding a solution to Apple's hobbled setup - don't understand why you don't have some solving the problem points.
As everyone here is saying, thanks to sacmacguy.
The bigger problem is What gives with Adobe? I dare not download anything mofre from Adobe (my problem came about as a direct result of installing Adobe Reader). The pdf has become an invaluable standard, but Adobe seems intent on parlaying the advantage it gained from this to make us forever after dependent on them. And then they mess up with sloppy updates. DO NOT INSTALL Adobe Reader 11.0.02! Be careful of anything incoming from Adobe.
Moving the curser to the pdf bottom, the clicking on the "disk" icon worked for a while. But now when I move the curser to the pdf bottom the line of controls doesn't appear.
sacmacguy... superhero!
This worked for me. Thanks Scammo
Thanks for fix on Adobe/mac 10.6.8 print problem. Fixed problem in 2 minutes.
