Ipad3 . No sound

Hi all,

Not long purchased iPad 3.'unfortunatley my speaker does not seem to be working on anything. When I turn up volume on the side case it displays 'headphones' and the display bar under increases or decreased but no sound and I don't have headphones pluged in.

I have shut down, re opened,done a full erase but everything is still the same as in no sound.

Any suggestions would be fantastic

Top Man, King Penguin! I had no idea what the switch was and I still don't understand why it works on some apps and not others, but, thanks to you, I am no longer about to sling my ipad through the window. Thanks again.
