mail from known senders goes to trash

Hi,

I've had this problem for a long time. Way before upgrading to 10.7.

So much mail from people in my Address Book goes directly to trash. A real pain.

That's why I switched to Outlook for Mac. But would love to go back to Mail.

Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem and it started when I created rules for moving specific mail from my inbox to a folder called "retail constant contact" for stuff I might be interested in - like coupons etc. but don't want filling my inbox. And other emails which were truly spam which I made a rule to send to the trash.

Sounds like others who are having this problem may have created rules as well. I've deleted all my rules to see if this helps. Do want to use rules tho. as I've found it helpful in the past as a way of managing my inbox. I'll let you know if this makes a difference.

All interesting discussion, but I see no solution. I'm using Yosemite. Mail from any Linked-In contacts and mail from a PR/Journalist contact site (HARO: Help A Reporter Out) ALWAYS goes to trash. See no reason that it should, but it does. Anyone figure out the work around to creating a mail filter or perhaps ordering the filters? I did discover years ago, that where the spam filter I created, for example, was in the order of things made a difference. (It had to be near the top of the list).
