New iTunes security questions

I am not sure if that is what made it work for me but that is what i did as well and i can connect now.

Either that or they are just making some of us wait for two days while they run a security check on our security questions. 😁

At a minimum, it'd be great if Apple would allow you to create your own questions. One thing that bothered me is that one question is "What was your first car?" and another question is "What was your least favorite car?" Great, but it turns out you cannot have the same answer for two questions. Someone certainly didn't put much thought into creating the questions or ability for users to be able to find a question they really could answer.

I have no idea what the answers to the questions are! I just answered as X, Y & Z. Hopefully I can remember that! 😝

I recommnd that you suggest that Apple allow us to choose our own questons. Just go to https://expresslane.apple.com follow through with iTunes>iTunes Store>Account Management and have an iTunes Advisor contact you.

I think the questions are assine since no one will remember them. For example, Where were you on January 1, 2000? That's 12 years ago. How will someone remember that?

I hope Apple will allow you to choose your own questions as I've forgotten mine already. I already suggested that they allow us to choose our own questions but if more people email them I hope they will do something about it.

That's not a good idea, especially if what you just posted are literally the answers you gave for your questions. These insecurity questions are an easy way for attackers to bypass your password protection and gain access to your account - if you make the answers easy. You should treat the answers the same way you do passwords: Make them difficult to guess, and keep them secure.

Or do what I did: Make up random garbage and hope you never forget your password.

I see some of the most bizzare and imature comments (only) on the Apple forums...this is one of them...yes Steve has been dead a couple of months and in that time the company has gotten so bad, so off track...that they...get ready...geat ready...the implimented a security question...wow...Steve must be rolling in his grave.

I have also had this problem, but since I emailed AND got a reply from Apple, I can understand why I have to answer these 3 questions. I chose the easiest ones to remember, but only I know the answer. I am the only one using this account, so have recorded them somewhere safe. If they are willing to protect my account by doing this, well, I suppose I just have to go along with it.

If only the morons that hack into other peoples business would get a job, then we wouldnt have this problem, would we???

I think they could have let us know about the changes though. I thought I had been doing something wrong, until I got on the forum and saw some of the questions regarding this problem.

you're a leaming! if my 16 digit passwords are good enough for my bank, email, ect, ect...then they are good enough for my itunes. having to answer some of the stupidest questions I've ever seen is up there with capcha codes.

I have no idea who my first or favorite teacher was, i never new my father, i've never owned a car, i couldn't tell you which job I liked the least...so I guess I'll just guess each time...

Why these stupid systems don't let someone pick their own questions is beyound me...

Exactly. The hackers need real jobs and there won't be a need for security questions to protect our Apple IDs.

Apple should definitely have let us know ahead of time in an email or something. A few people thought this was a scam. at first.

I hope Apple can make some improvements to this.

This is totality absurd that we can't choose our own questions and I totality agree with you that the questions are asinine.

AMEN! stupid banks work on email(username) and password.. THAT IS WHERE ALL MY MONEY IS and they are fine with that! at least they ask security questions (if needed): where was my bank account open... how many accounts do i have open.. CUZ I KNOW THAT! CUZ IT'S TO THE POINT! yes.. but if i want to buy stupid song for 2 bucks or application for .99 - what was my car.. WHY DO YOU CARE and WHY would i remember! and dont even start me on the january question... W O W

This morning I have tried to purchase the same app on my iPhone, iPad, and laptop, but I keep getting the same questions over and over again. If I give them my email address, it says they can't use the same email as the apple account. If I give them my husband's, it doesn't do anything. If I don't give an (optional) email address, it tells me that my burthday must be between 1880 and 2010, but there is no space to enter a birthdate.

Is this a software problem with Apple? Has it been hacked? Has anyone had any luck with this?

I haven't experienced this. I was able to select my security questions, and Ididn't an optional email and it went through ok.

I would contact iTunes Support and see if they can help you. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com follow through with iTunes>iTunes Store>Account Management and have an iTunes Advisor contact you. You will hear from a real person.

I think they hired some trained monkeys to work in thier security department. seriously the point of security is some thing that you know off the top of your head and only you know it, if you have to write it down then the security part of it just went out the window. because if its on paper some place you can lose it, then some one can find it. and how secure is that account now ? I'm with one of the earlyer posts, not answering these questions makes my ipad worthless to me and if I can't find questions that I can easly remember then my account isn't secure again making it worthless to me. I guess the only option I have left if apple does noting about it is sell my ipad and stop buying apple products
