Trouble is too that the support staff are limited in what they can do, and can't alter major policy changes themselves.

I tend to ask them to pass my comments up the chain of command so that the apporpriate people can at least be made aware of the issues.

Forcing people to pick from ridiculous questions like "your first car"?

Im 18 so thats one question that i cant answer.

Sorry apple, but i think this is one move thats going to push me in the direction of jailbreaking :-/

Wanted to chime in, as last time everyone had a problem, iPhone 4 radio antennae issue, they said it wasn't a big deal becuase people griped about it elsewhere.  These questions are horrible.  There has to be a better way to maintain security.  I don't have a solid answer for these either.  What if I put Ford for favorite car?  Is it case sensitive? What if when asked in five years I change my mind?  Awful questions.  Please Apple, make a change for the better.  Think different.

OMG!!! Just reading the pre written crap replies from Apple customer service makes my blood boil! God how I hate being spoken too as if I am some awestruck idiot who can't think for himself.

I'd like to tell her, YOU ARE TALKING TO A CUSTOMER, one who has helped to pay your salary for years. Please address MY issue as MY issue and NOT as just another idiot who doesn't think for himself.

Excuuuuuuse me? ***? Have they completely lost their marbles?

Ask her what encryption to use before sending that stuff via email.

The real issue is so many people have played along and answered the questions, entered their alternate email address but STILL CANNOT PURCHASE from the app store.

Who at Apple has addressed this issue?

    Horrible system.

Between this, having to enter my password more than once for each transaction, and having to enter my credit card info when I am paying with gift cards, the iTunes store is a joke.

20 years apple owner, own every product line, including the stock. I will boycott iTunes until they fix these intrusive, stupid, impossible to answer security questions. This is something I'd never expect from apple.

Unfortuantely everyone's cues here are not actually read by management. This is a user forum so problems can be solved without apple staff lifting there finger. To get the attention of apple management you need to go to the feedback section and make your protest there!

I've put off buying a book (went to the library to get it instead) and won't buy any more books, music or apps until this is fixed.

The users are one thing, but if I were an app developer I'd be talking to lawyers.

    Proof that Steve is dead.

I don't normally have issues with things like this. I use reasonably strong passwords most places, encrypted password stores hardware two factor auth etc. But these question just annoyed me. I know I can treat them as extra passwords but I am being difficult becuase I think Apple are being stupid.

I am one of these people who doesn't use Facebook and is careful about giving out personal information and the thought that Apple is asking questions about peoples lives and storing them just annoys me. It isn't a very strong form of security if done naively anyway. I would like to opt out. I have removed my credit card from my account. I will use itunes cards to limit the chance of fraud from now on.

Now I just want Apple to give me the option not to use these questions. Until then iTunes purchases are on hold and I will buy stuff for the Kindle and Android instead.

Ok everyone in my household has iPhones, we have an iPad, the latest Apple wifi modem as well as Apple TV. Apple's arrogance here in forcing loyal users to answer these random questions (how much thought could have gone into these!!!!).  I am unable to answer one of these and all iTunes purchases will therefore cease. As mentioned by others - I will only purchase books on my kindle, magazines via the web on Zinio and I'll be looking at Samsung for my next mobile and TV.

To top it off My company also develops Apps for iOS devices and Apple's random changes to their policies after significant money has been spent to try and meet their initial policies in the first place has driven me up the wall (you usually find out about these policy changes by the "Your App has been rejected" email). The last rejection had a substantial impact on our entire business plan and Apple do not seem to give any thought to the small businesses that these changes impact. This is just another one to add to the list.

Very disappointed and I will be looking at alternatives to Apple's very closed Eco-system (come on HTML5 please find a way to force the major browsers to follow through on the initial promise)

I too find this shocking.  Put locks on all the windows but leave your front door open.

I have declined to send data like this in the past to allow them 'to test my Itunes account', and they've been unable to assist further.

I cannot believe Apple cannot have a more secure way to confirm your identity than sending personal information by e-mail.

Well god help me if I need to give my responses to the questions using my appleTV remote. Especially after a wine or two. Note, they were responses, not answers, couldn't give answers.

I was really glad to find out that I was not alone in not liking this.

  • iiArtistic Level 1 Level 1

What do you do if your forget like.. one of the answers to the questions?

I really hate Apple for this. No one is going to remember them, and they are very simple questions with very simple answers.

I knowledge that the security question comes up after certainly amount or type of apps downloaded. Obviously their system track each iPhone  registered. This is going too far.
