I have a iPhone 4 for over a year now and have never had ne problems. But after the last update of itunes to v10.6.1.7 each time I sync my phone with my pc the sync process hangs on step 2: backup.
I have read a lot of forums and have tried everything. i have even tried formatting my pc and install everything from scratch but nothing seems to work.
PLS HELP..
iPhone 4, Windows XP, iTunes 10.6.1.
so okay my pc is running on genuine windows xp service pack 2.
i changed the registry value so that itunes is directed to think that the version of windows is "service pack 3"
steps:
>start
>run
>type "regedit" press enter
navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Control / Windows
there double click on "CSDVersion" and change value from "200" to "300"
dats it. close the window and RESTART the computer.
That did it for me.
PS. To check you can always right click on My Computer and select Properties. There it should say "Service Pack 3"
Had the same issue here. Have not been able to backup my iPhone for many months. It started with being unable to upgrade iTunes to the latest version, then, once I got that sorted out, I couldn't backup/sync my iPhone. "Netsh winsock reset" worked like a charm. I am backing up to my local machine (not to iCloud), so I would never have thought to repair the winsock. THANKS VERY MUCH WICLEE !! 🙂
