That not only did not happen, it's not even possible.
Why? The legislation proposed by Michael Rogers last year.... CISPA. It has been enacted onto the American constitution.
Really?
It has not been voted on by any state (and not even voted on by the senate) so how has it been "enacted onto the American constitution"?
Sadly, Civics no longer seems to be taught in schools.
Another thing totally missing from this thread is any indication whatsoever that any of those complaining are able or willing to do anything about it beyond entertaining the rest of us with their great wailings and gnashings of teeth.
No one here is going to click on 'Like' or 'Don't Like', and no one here can do anything about whatever you have become convinced the single most important issue of the day is for you. If you want to talk to Apple, then talk to them through their established feedback links, all of which are accessed through http://www.apple.com/feedback
For the record, I agree with those who point out that the new approach is, to put it charitably, poorly designed. In my own mind I put that off to this small taskoid being shunted off to some low-level intern of an engineer, a whole little project to do all on his or her own, coupled with supervisory failures at any of several levels above that pay grade when he sent over his bunch of code along with a proud 'I got it done!'. I made my complaint know to them via Feedback and provided some suggestions on better ways to do it, both of which have been replicated by others in this thread.
That sort of stuff just happens, even at Apple. They will change it if enough people complain about it, but isolated grumblings here in user-user forums doesn't get that done.

Very well said.
Here's my solution to the very poor questions. Pick your favorite 5 character password. Then add the noun in the question. for example if the question is "what car was your mother driving in 1967?" and if your favorite 5 character password is 12345 your answer would be "12345car"
I just did something like that and it worked.
What the "stop whining and comply" brigade fail to grasp is that some people actually use other products and if they all start requiring answers to inane questions how many answers will we have to remember? How big will the safe place have to be to store all the pieces of paper?
Based on this change of requirements Apple will lose a customer who owns the whole suite of their products (except for the iMac).
I buy Apple, not because it's the best, but because it's easy, convenient and leaves me with more time to get on with the important things in life, if I wanted frustrating I'd buy Sony.........
I have actually written to Apple and asked for more information on this issue, I've also suggested that we should be able to set our own questions, however based on past experience I won't hold my breath waiting for an answer.
This thread had been resting in peace for 5 months until you had to go and disturb it.....
Perhaps, but the subject is still just as frustrating as it was 5 months ago.
So go tell Apple, then. This thread wasn't productive when it was new. No one who posts or reads this can do anything to effect the changes you want.
This thread had been resting in peace for 5 months until you had to go and disturb it.....
And your point is? The Issue still exists.
I did write (see previous post) and didn't get a reply, so your suggestion doesn't work either..........................

What makes you think you would get a reply when it states specifically,
"Use the form below to send us your comments. We read all feedback carefully, but please note that we cannot respond to the comments you submit."
so your suggestion doesn't work either..........................
Meg's suggestion was to send feedback.
You could not send feedback?
...
