Does anyone have a MBP that does NOT have the whine issue?
I'm sure everyone has seen this thread
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=374397&tstart=0 about the 'whine' that appears to be prevelant on the new MacBook Pros. I've been on the fence of ordering one since they've been anounced and was ready to order one this morning until I saw this thread and others like it reporting problems. I'm very sensitive to most electronic hums or 'whines' and fear that if my MacBook has this problem I won't be able to use it at all. I know that only people that have problems normally post on these forums but I'm curious as to how many people have either bought one and had no issues at all with it, or had one with the 'whine' that has since been repaired. Thanks to anyone that responds.
mine didn't whine when i first received it. then it whined
once, immediately after i added 1GB ram (1.5gb total). i felt totally bummed, installed the mirror widget that made it go away.
but since then, it's completely stopped - even after rebooting a few times. hoping it won't come back...
I don't own one but there's a demo model in our university computer store that is absolutely quiet. It looks like this "whine" issue is not like the horizontal line issue that affected all Powerbooks at one time.
My stock 2.0 GHz MBP just arrived today and in the several hours I've used it, I have yet to hear a whine or hiss or buzz. The only thing I've found wrong with it is one stuck pixel. It's hardly noticeable, appearing to be little more than a spec of dust (and a red one at that).
No whine on mine (unless I spill a little of my favorite vintage). Nor any buzz from the speaker. Nor any hum, warble, or tweet from the CPU. Everything is as it should be, except my delete and eject keys are oh so very slightly cocked so one side sticks up a half a millimeter more than the rest of the keys. I guess I should write a bunch of nasty posts about Apple's terrible quality control and the end of civilization as we know it, work myself up into a good old-fashioned snit, and hold my breath until I turn blue...
Well, no, maybe not. But those of you who are taking that approach, how's it workin' for you?
