Mates, I have been reading such suggestions all over the web for months by now. Nevertheless, none of the suggestions including the aboves have worked for me. Let me tell you my story:
This itunes thing was just working fine until the upgrade of the windows OS from XP to 7 64bit in the office. Followingly and suddenly, when any of us in the office tried to open itunes this very annoying phrase has begun popping up; "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again." Whatever I tried, I could not able to solve this problem. The things to solve this problem I have done so far are as listed below:
- Uninstalling and reinstalling of itunes software
- Updating to final version (currently it is 10.6.1.7)
- Searching and finding every single itunes related files within the pc and deleted them, then gave a fresh install
- Removing pop-up blockers from each and every web-browser
- Enabled TCP and UDP ports 3689 both from the firewall server and the client's windows firewall
- Used "netsh winsock reset" command after running cmd in administrator mode
- Added inbounds rules to windows firewall to allow connections for iTunes
- Changed the DNS addresses several times and currently using 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
- Repaired quicktime and itunes more than several times
- Disabled the firewall module of Trend Micro Worry Free Business Security A/V software
- Ran diagnostics of iTunes software and got the "Secure links to iTunes Store failed" statement with the following results (in contrast to enabling the ports both from firewall server and the client pc's windows firewall, the report still says itunes is not enabled in firewall. And I could not be able to solve this as well):
