Secure link to iTunes Store failed

I can't log in or connect to iTunes store from my PC. About two weeks ago I was watching movie on my AppleTV and all of a sudden it stoped in the middle of it and asaid I was not connected to iTunes. Ever since then I cannot connect. When I run diagnostics I get msg "secure link to iTunes Store failed" and when I click on the Help button it tells me that I am not connected to the internet.

That is not true as I can browse the net and I can even log into my accout on line but just cannot log in to iTunes or connect to the Store. Please, help.

I spent an hour talking to Apple tech trying to explain what my problem is, and then again 3 hours trying to figure out the problem with a supervisor over the period of two days. First tech sounded like he is in high school and he himself needs help in basic communication, and senior supervisor was blaming my computer for everything and not taking any responsibility of her lack of knowledge and ability to fix things as a part of her job. Had I tried to do this myself, I would have been more successful. By the way, I spent good 7-8 hours over two days with apple tech and no one could help me or figure out and this has solved my problem completely. I am so happy and grateful for your knowledge and help. I sure will never call Apple again before I search here in future.

This worked for me. You have to reset your winsock.

Bring up Command Prompt:

type cmd in the Run or Search field, then right-click the cmd program and click "run as administrator"

Type the following commands

ipconfig /release

Press Enter then type:

ipconfig /renew

/release will terminate all of your TCP/IP connections

/renew will establish a new TCP/IP connection

Then type the winsock reset command

netsh winsock reset catalog

It says that you will need to restart your computer for it to take affect, but I went ahead and started iTunes. iTunes gave me an error about the Bonjour service, clicked OK and I was able to connect to the iTunes store.
