Philips say that AppleTV will not work with their sets?

I have a Philips 42" TV. (42PFL7603D/10). They say that Philips TV are not compatible with Apple, because Apple won't make it work....it works fine on my Panasonic.

On my Philips, I get Unsupported Video Format.

Anyone figured a way to fix this, or is it a matter of returning the Apple TV back to the store?

Philips are talking nonsense. The 720p output over HDMI from the Apple TV is a standard 720p signal, if it doesn't work, it's the TV set that doesn't support it. Not all TV's do support 720p

The Apple TV doesn't output 1080p. That's the point, it only outputs 720p and it appears your TV doesn't support it.
