iCloud integration causes Outlook to hang when switching to Calendar for a LONG TIME?

I've been working on integrating iCloud (contacts and calendar) into outlook (tried 2007 & 2010). With 3 kids I have to integrate our home and work calendars if we expect to have any chance of remembering anything.

I thought I had found a solution, using the basic windows iCloud control panel and then using a free piece of software from CodeTwo - http://www.codetwo.com/sync-for-icloud/ - which essentially just keeps any of your outlook folders (contacts, calendar, etc) in sync with one of the iCloud generated folders. One way either direction or Two way.

This all worked just fine... except...through process of elimination I found that once the iCloud control panel has generated it's iCloud 'pst' and Outlook is opening it; that Outlook takes an excruciatingly long time (minutes) to switch into the Calendar. I don't see this behavior when switching to Contacts or back to Mail. This persists even if I turn syncing for anything outlook related off at the iCloud control panel, presumably because the iCloud folders are still present in outlook. It isn't until I remove them, that things go back to normal.

Curiously, I'm doing this on two different pc's. One has normal Outlook (local files) and all works fine, while the other has an Exchange Server account, it's the one that's hanging.

2017... aaand problem is NOT solved yet. Windows 10, latest Outlook from Office 365, new computer... after icloud outlook integration is installed, switching to calendar view in outlook takes very very long time. Problem is solved when disabling the outlook icloud add on, but then icloud calenders are not syncing obviously. I may have to forget the icould calendard and swith to use e.g. Google calendar with my family.

Has anyone found a solution yet? I can see workarounds, and FHerrera9 suggestion works for me.

But I don't want workarounds! I would like to view two calendars in overlay mode - without the long wait.

It does not appear to be an environmental issue: I have the problem on both my home PC and work laptop. One runs Windows 10, the other 7. One runs a more recent version of Outlook that the other.

I find it staggering that there is no solution from Apple / Microsoft - the first post was almost 2 years ago.

I echo the comment here - have seen this problem for years. I had hoped that the newest iCloud control panel 5.0 released last week would fix this but still no. I'm running Windows 8.1 with Outlook 2013. When I switch to Calendar it hangs for several minutes, and sometimes will come back, other times Outlook will Crash. Eventually it will disable two Apple plug-ins, which at that point the hanging stops but no further updates go back and forth for my calendars and contacts which is unacceptable. I believe this is only on my corporate Exchange machine, as my home PC with no exchange doesn't seem to have this problem.

Exactly the same problem. I am not alone now. I'm runing also Windows 8.1 x64 with Outlook 2010 32bits, corporate MS Exchange and iCloud calendars. I have the feeling that the problem is between MS Exchange and iCloud calendars.... When I go to email and come back to Calendars, same effects, lagging several minutes before displaying calendars window... I have just to disabled iCloud addin in Outlook to avoid the lagg, but no more synchronisation with iCloud... Please, HELP !

I'd like to provide another remedy: Disable the Internet Connection after click Calendar Tab in Outlook, which brings Outlook back from hanging immediately. Enable the Internet connection again, and try not to close the page of Calendar.

Win 7 64bit, Outlook 2010, iCloud for Windows 5.2.

iCloud add-in for Outlook is likely checking calendar details or something. Maybe it is busy on getting data since the age of dinosaurs. If outlook has a spinning waiting icon there, we definitely will see a tornado in front of us and may break our screen next second.

Reducing the default Calendar data period might help, I don't know...╮(╯▽╰)╭

I've been suffering from issue since last year, and was aware that this issue has lasted for years. Apple believe it is Microsoft's issue, and Microsoft believe it is Apple's. I will abandon both of them the next moment I have acceptable alternatives, but pity thing is I don't. Not sure how many years will this issue still last.
