Repartitioning bootcamp...

I am attempting to restore a bootcamp partition I had with Windows 7 on it. I backed up the partition by making an iso in terminal, which probably wasn't the best thing to do. This iso is about 100GB and on my main partition and an external hard drive I have. Using disk utility I deleted the boot camp partition and resized it to 225GB. After I resized it I used termial to try and restore the iso by using the command "sudo dd if=~/Bootcamp.iso of=/dev/disk0s4" Then after a long long time all of my files are back on the new boot camp partition, but all of the sudden it is only 100GB. Where did the other 125GB go? Also, I can't boot to the drive by holding the option key since the drive isn't listed. What am I doing wrong?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

I'm sorry, when you said the partition was only 100G and you could not boot to it with the option key I assumed you were describing the situation accurately, I will not do that any longer, carry on.

Ok so next time quote what you are replying to. Don't quote what you are not replying to. I'm copying all of my files from my os x partition back to the windows partition now. Going to be done in 45 mins. No one here has been any help at all. I will never come here again. Fixed my own problem. I wonder why people like you guys come to these forums. It was more of a hinderance than any help.

I think the replys to your original post have been more than constructive. But a reply like the one above is likely to get you no replys at all now.

If you knew how to fix the problem why did you start the thread in the first place? Felt like arguing?

I dont know how to quote on here with my iPhone. Anyways, no response would have been better. If you can read you will see that I was trying to restore everything from an ISO. That did not work so I figured out how to move individual files. No where did it say that I knew how to do this or that it is what I had set out to do. Can you read?

The easiest way to achieve what you want to do is probably to make a backup of the Windows partition via the built-in Windows backup utility (to a USB drive or whatever), then delete the whole bootcamp drive, reinstall a basic Windows 7 from DVD and then do a restore of the Windows backup from the USB drive to the now larger partition.

What you described will either result in a Windows installation which cannot boot or which has the wrong size.
