How do you delete tv shows from itunes

The method I described on page 1 of the thread worked for me getting them to stop keep trying to download.

Didn't work for me. I paused the download, went to TV shows, marked it as "watched" tried to delete it and it wouldn't delete. I could delete it from the download queue, but then the next time I check for downloads, it downloads again.

The only solution I could find is to let it download, then delete the episode and it stays gone.

This is a real problem for me because I have several TV show's purchased on my Apple TV. If I stream them and then also DOWNLOAD them to iTunes, I'm doubling my bandwidth usage and will quickly go over my monthly cap.

Apple - please make a way to prevent TV shows / Movies from downloading to iTunes when purchased on the Apple TV. I don't need it downloaded AND streamed.

I just got an AppleTV and purchased some TV shows from there and was able to start watching them instantly through the cloud I guess. Then the next time I opened iTunes on my PC I noticed it was downloading these massive high-res shows to my PC and my hard drive about choked. Inside iTunes > Prefs > Store there is NO option to disable automatic download of anything except Apps, Music and Book. It seems very odd there is no choice for TV shows or movies.

I would like the option to download to iTunes so that I can sync with my iPad and take the shows or movies with me like if I was about to get on a plane.

Final question: I am little confused about how the iCloud works. When I purchase something, whether it's from my AppleTV or my iPad, do all my purchases go to/come from the iCloud and download to my devices, or is there a way I can "stream" everything from iCloud (talking moves and TV) from every device without having to download/sync anything ever? Thanks. P.S. I have iPad 2 and latest gen TV. Slowly becoming an Apple convert I must say.

Close iTunes Application

Go to your iTunes folder and look for the folder iTunes Music. Double Click and look for folder Downloads. All your unfinished downloads will be there. Just delete all the files in that folder and start iTunes again. You should be good.

Again the folder path is iTunes->iTunes Music->Downloads

I eventually figured this out, but it's still very confusing. Even the very fact that movies and TV shows will be downloaded under the "Music" folder is not logical in my opinion. Apple needs to update iTunes per the above posts and make everything automatic.

I've deleted the contents of my "Downloads" folder many times. iTunes still tries to re-download the shows the next time I run it. I also hid them in the iTunes Store (under Purchased), but they still keep coming. In my case, it's 15 episodes of an NPR series, totaling about 13 GB. They were free, so I thought, why not? But I don't have time to watch them and I don't want to download 13 GB of stuff I don't want.

There needs to be a way to do this. Come on Apple "Geniuses." This ain't rocket science.

There is.

As noted previously, let them download and delete them or contact iTunes support.

Chris, that's not what we're trying to do. We want to delete them *without* downloading them and *without* having to call someone. I changed my mind about these shows. I don't want them. I don't want to download them. I should be able to cancel the downloads and not have iTunes keep restarting them over and over again. It seems like you're the only one that doesn't understand what we're asking for (that keeps adding to this thread), so you may want to just sit this one out. Your comments aren't making you look good.

Currently you cannot do this. As noted previously, you can send suggestions to Apple here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/

I suppose contacting Apple support to delete your download queue is the only way to do this.

Why, when I've purchased something from my Apple TV, then watched it on my Apple TV, would Apple think I would want to download it to my PC?

Even if that seems like a good idea, which it doesn't, to me, its reasonable to think that many, many people would not want to download extra gigabytes of shows to their pc, and providing a simple check box allowing us to never download the content again would be easy enough.

iTunes bizarre, unfriendly behaviors are the reason my next media devices will probably not be Apple. It's simply too buggy, and too unfriendly for anyone that wants even a modest amount of control over downloading hundreds of gigabytes of files.

Hiding them in the store ***** too--the behaviour I've seen from that is the entire series is then hidden from your Apple TV too, even new episodes. It does prevent the downloading of unwanted shows to your pc though.

Hi. I had the same problem! And I think I figured it out. On your mobile device (iphone, ipad, whatever) when you are on your home screen, hit the home button so it reveals the search screen. This is the screen that will search everything on your device. Type in the name of the TV show and it will appear. Then slide your finger on the right hand side of that item and the red DELETE option will appear. Delete.

ALSO, go into iTunes when your device is connected. Select your device (for me, it appears on the left hand menu of my computer screen). You know you are doing this correctly if when you click on it your itunes switches to your device summary page. On the upper nav bar you have Info, Apps, Music, Movies, TV SHOWS...go there. Make sure the box is UNCHECKED that says "Sync TV Shows."

I hope this solves your problem. It solved mine after some very frustrated months of wanting these shows to stop syncing that I long ago tried to delete, as well (to no avail)- both shows I had seen in their entirety and shows that were still in mid download. The key was deleting them from my device, not from itunes.

I'm aware of what the thread is about. My point is that I have been having the same problem with TV shows for a very long time- iTunes (not on my iDevice). Until I realized that iTunes was not the place to delete the content. If the original poster viewed that content on their iDevice, then that is where they need to go to delete the original source so iTunes no longer downloads the content again and again. Similiary, I am suggesting the original poster USE their iDevice to try to solve the problem with their iTunes.

I had the same issue, but I just restarted iTunes. And it let me delete them. And if it's downloading, I just go to the downloads menu, the flashing blue arrow, and it says I can pause all or stop all or delete them too. Hope that helps

Good grief, I have been having this same issue, and it's making me batty!!! 😢

I swear I will never in this lifetime accept or download another TV show, free or not!!!

I have messed around and around trying to get these shows to stop downloading, and just when I think they're finally gone, they come back again trying to download. At the moment, they seem to be gone again, but I don't trust it, lol. I am going to save this thread to try these solutions if they come back again. What a PITA!!!
