Suzeplanet, try following my instructions whereby you delete the files from your actual iDevice, instead of from iTunes on your laptop/desktop. The problem is, for many of us, is that the initial download gets saved onto our iDevice (even though it is also appearing in our iTunes). If you have an IDevice, I'm 100% confident this will solve your problem, as it did for me. Make note, I DID NOT ever download the TV show onto my iDevice. I did it on my laptop in iTunes. But when I synced, it put the file onto my iDevice (you have to disable that, too, if you want that to stop in the future- instructions also in my other post). Hope this is helpful.

If the TV show is still downloading to your ipad – a swipe to the left and hitting delete will not work.

I had to let the TV shows finish downloading.

I used my computer to delete the shows. If you are traveling without a computer this will not work for you.

From your computer:

Go to Finder

Click on Music App

Click on arrow next to itunes folder

Click on arrow next to itunes media folder

Click Dowloads

Delete TV shows by right clicking and selecting, "Move to Trash"

If that does not work:

Plug your ipad into your computer and wait for the device summary page to come up. There will be a small download arrow in the upper right hand corner next to the search box. Click the download arrow. All of your downloaded and downloading items will appear. A box will pop up with each show listed. Select the TV show(s) you want to delete. A box will pop up that says,

“TV shows from the itunes store are being downloaded. Are you

sure you want to cancel the downloads and remove TV shows?”

Click “Remove”.

The download box will show that each episode has “stopped”. Highlight each episode and hit the delete button.

go back to finder and make sure they are still gone from your downloads folder.

Then I went to Settings on my ipad, clicked icloud and clicked “Back up Now”.

Looking back at your posts, I can see why you might not think you're being rude. Perhaps curt was the appropriate description. Also, this thread seems to be about more than one thing. I came here by way of google trying to figure out how to delete hidden items. You're suggestions were not helpful for that, other than to say contact Apple Support. That comes across as rude b/c the whole point of coming onto a forum like this is to fix the problem without having to contact Apple Support. But, I apologize for calling you rude. Looking back with a fresh perspective, I can see that was probably not your intent.

Yes, I posted this on the 1st page.

People complain that they should be able to delete stuff (I understand this) but the simple fact is they cannot.

They need to contact Apple support.

Posting otherwise would be disingenuous.

Greetings all, thanks to everyone who posted in here. As a moderator and admin on a popular motorcycle forum, I have seen my share of spirited debates and discussions, sometimes getting out of hand, and i certianly didn' t see that here. Everyone should be commended in the collective effort to help each other out.

Anyway barrettinla I will let you know that your method doens't work for everyone. I tried to search for the shows that are trying to download, and they simply are not on my phone. I think that its because I have never actually let them finish downloading on in itunes to begin with, and in turn they never actually synced with my phone.

I am now in the process of letting the shows actually finish and then I will follow the suggestions in here on getting rid of them for good. I also agree that Apple needs to pull thier heads.....well you know where that was going....LOL Anyway, I'll be watching this thread closely to see if anyone adds any more information.

ALSO, go into iTunes when your device is connected. Select your device (for me, it appears on the left hand menu of my computer screen). You know you are doing this correctly if when you click on it your itunes switches to your device summary page. On the upper nav bar you have Info, Apps, Music, Movies, TV SHOWS...go there. Make sure the box is UNCHECKED that says "Sync TV Shows."

While you first part about deleting from phone didn't work for me, however your other part above, worked perfect! Thanks a million!!! I finaly got the 4 shows downloaded, deleted, unchecked the sync tv shows, and made sure that there was nothing in my itunes folder in the C drive and BAM!!! all is well.....lets hope it stays that way now. Thanks again barrettinla. 😉

Well, I had my two shows show up AGAIN tonight and start downloading when I hooked my iPhone up to iTunes.... 😠 I was fit to be tied. But I think maybe this time I have managed to get rid of them for real.

I could not even find them on the phone itself to try to delete.

I unchecked the TV sync and the auto download too.

I went to Purchased on iTunes and unchecked them. It wouldn't let me delete from there even though it showed it on right-click menu.

I went to TV shows and let the $^$%&* shows download, fuming the whole time. You could right-click and try to delete while they were downloading, but it didn't do anything. Once they were done, I right-click/deleted and it asked if I was sure and said it would be deleted from any iOS device (hallelujah!). I WAS SURE. Then I removed the iPhone and closed iTunes and tried to find this iTunes Download folder as posted above to delete partial DL's, but I couldn't find one. Well, hooked up the iPhone and iTunes and blessed silence from the TV folder and Purchased folder. I pray this is the end of it. If it's not I will have to contact Apple support and it won't be pleasant. I will never ever ever DL another TV show. Ever. EVER. 😢

@Todd Kogutt - Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! This solved my problem. Not sure what all the condescending people's problem is, but you were so helpful. I too wanted to delete a show after I watched it but it kept coming back over and over again. You helped me fix it. So happy now. 🙂

Todd Kogutt

Something I found that worked (just now after fighting with it) is if you pause the download(s), then go to the tv shows section, and mark the titles "Mark as Watched". I was then able to simply delete them without them re-downloading.

I hope you guys figured it out by now.

(scroll down to see how to delete a tv show from ios)

- Go to the "Video" app preinstalled on your iPhone (not iTunes Store... I've used this particular Video app to edit movies/videos)
- Select the episode or show and swipe left to remove it from your phone.
(it takes a few seconds for it to return from your phone to the cloud)
