pre 10.7.4, i shared my ethernet connection over Wi Fi, without issues.
since the update i am having a few problems. anyone else experienced this?
I have tried re setting the settings for internet conection on both my tablet and my imac...
the imac is connected to the intenet fine.
any suggestions?

my kext's worked version is 4.1.2 (from 10.7.3)
unfortunately i dont have a back up of this machine. but will be thinking of doing so on this machine on a regular basis in the near future, as i have been on my own personal computer.

Why hasn't anybody tried the kext form Snow Leopard that was recommended a couple of days ago here http://rys.pixeltards.com/2011/09/04/osx-lion-wifi.html. Not only does he give you the kext, but also the scripts for backing up the old one and properly installing the new one.
1 make backup
2 find kext folder : libraries->extensions (possibly may be hidden)
3 backup old kext file
4 unload current kext
5 copy kext with version 4.2.1
6 assign correct rights
7 renew kextcache
No warranties ! On your own risk !

i think that its the 'comes with no warranties' bit that would put most people off.
not to mention that i think that Apple should fix the issue, as they have seemed to cause it.
In my opinion, this bug will be fixed. But when ?

Who can't wait, don't want restore from TimeMachine and need wi-fi sharing now.
I decided to restore 10.7.3 from Time Machine this morning. Everything seems to be working again. I probably should have done it sooner since it was more hassle re-restoring the last week's work via Time Machine than it was restoring the system itself.
Just used the kext uploaded by oooo and the instructions given by MadMacs0 and after a restart it all worked.

This kind of answer makes my blood boil, offering useless generalities when we already know that taking an update broke something specific. Unfortunately, it happens often with complex software, and Apple's testing is minimal at best. Answering every post does get one's points up, but I sure wish people would refrain from answering unless they have the specific fix to, or specific knowledge of, the problem described.
Now this is an excellent reply, IMHO, but in principle is anyone else leary of installing system software from a non-secure source? I have no reason to be suspicious of this link, but in general it's a bit scary to me. Or is there a mechanism making such links safe?
BTW, my copy of VNC Server stopped working with the update, and one work-around given is to keep the display from sleeping; I'll try it.

Ok, an update from Apple, as i have just got off the phone.
I am running their data capture app, and it is still running (30 mins). I am sure that it is coming up against some port/securtity issues.
other than that, i have no other information to offer unfortunately - otherthan the 10.7.3 machine in the room is now the deafult internet sharing connection for a number of people in the room!
has anyone else had any luck with apple?
Your're right.
Possible safest way - extract from original install/update image.
Or, as I wrote in first post : use your own file from backup.
