My volume won't work on iPhone 4s?

Today I tried listening to music on my iPhone 4S, only to find that my volume adjuster had disappeared. And just to clarify, when I say that it disappeared, I mean that when I press the volume buttons on my phone, I see the speaker icon but the gauge bar is gone. I tried to test if this issue was only happening in one place, by checking out if I could adjust my volume through my YouTube app. Unforuntately, the volume slider has disappeared from the app as well.

I tested my alarms, etc. and the problem is not my speakers -- my phone is still fully functional in this regard.

I can't figure out what I did to cause this change, but I would love any advice you have on how to fix my phone. If it makes any difference, I have already tried restarting it several times.

And remember, the speakers work fine. I got them to play for a couple

Seconds. It's just the volume won't show up. And it doesn't say "headphones"

I have a iPhone 5c and I've had it for maybe 2 years or now maybe and every problem I've had I've been able to fix, I'm good with technolog, today for some reason my sound was making a weird noice, it was doing it with everything, and the Internet gave me ideas on how to fix it but i have a mind of my own so I tried something that i thought of and it fixed it apparently as far as I know. If y'all are having the same problem that I had don't spend your money or your parents money on trying to fix it just yet, don't freak out just text. Follow these steps: turn your ringer on. now facetime your phone from another device. I facetimed my phone from my iPad and after that i plugged in my head phones to see if it was working and it was. If your headphones have a kink or a wire sticking out don't use them, they can damage your phone, just like a messed up charger can. Don't blast your sound too much. Hope this helped.
