my safari menu bar is missing --the menu bar for desktop, HD, and apps appears, but when I click on Safari, it disappears, so I can no longer see my buttons for History, etc. I think my husband (pc user) clicked it away. Any ideas how to retrieve it?

This was just happening to me too. It turned out that the problem was Microsoft Silverlight (which I didn't even know I had) had set Safari to run in fullscreen mode. My dock didn't even show Silverlight as a running application, but I went into Finder and then to Applications, found Silverlight, and got rid of it. The second I did this, Safari exited whatever weird fullscreen mode it was in.

If that doesn't work, one should still be able to get to Safari's preferences by pressing Command+, then go from there.

Silverlight may be the problem. I have started running Redbox Instant streaming movies. Redbox Instant requires Silverlight for watching their movies on my iMac running Lion. I have found that once you put the Redbox Instant movie into full screen mode the Safari menu bar disappears, as well as the Mac task bar (I have it hidden and usually bring it up by moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen). The only way I have found to bring back both the Safari menu bar and the task bar is to close the Safari windows using the red dot, then the task bar can be displayed. Safari shows as still being active, but if you click on the Safari icon to switch back to Safari, it will have no menu bar displayed. What I must do while the task bar is visible is I right click on the Safari icon and force it closed. Now if I restart Safari its menu bar will be displayed; until I run Redbox Instant streaming movie and go into full screen mode.
