my safari menu bar is missing --the menu bar for desktop, HD, and apps appears, but when I click on Safari, it disappears, so I can no longer see my buttons for History, etc. I think my husband (pc user) clicked it away. Any ideas how to retrieve it?

I had the same problem, could only find answers saying exit fullscreen, but that of course left me with a tiny screen to work on. The answer is to pick up and drag (holding down right click) the bottom corner of the 'tiny' screen (out of full screen mode) in the bottom edge bar and extend it to the size you want it to be. Problem solved. Menu tool bar 'and' decent size screen. Ooop.

Just so you know, the "full screen" comments were not made to in any way denigrate the OP. I had two friends who had that problem, and it didn't make an sense to me at the time. It came in with a new OS as default, I believe. This situation became more well known in 2011 and 2012, AFAIK.

Anyway, it took me a long time to figure it out (at that time, it was early on with the problem, and I found very little guidance from the Boards, or elsewhere). So when I offered that advice it was from personal experience, and was never meant to make the OP feel badly. I really hoped it would be the solution. As it was for many back then.

I'm very happy that this problem is getting reported here, less and less with every new OS.

My experience , after days of confusion was to a) go to view, than exit full screen and than go to all windows open and exit full screen for them also. this solved the problem. Before i figured this out i was going to system preferences to open a new screen . If you do that you need to go to every open screen and exit full screen
